July 5, 200223 yr features a long article on flying the Jetstream 41. Out of the barrage of technical data 2 things seem to stand out: it has counter-rotating props and is a very fast aircraft for its category.I won't even touch the subject of virtual cockpit - whether PMDG will do it or not - with a 10-foot pole. I know how controversial this one can be.But looking carefully at the pictures of 41's cockpit I must appreciate the challenges PMDG faces regarding the 2D cocpkit view. The instrument layout on the Jetstream certainly does not lend itself easily for implementation on a monitor. I would personally move both the radar and standby analog instruments to a seperate view (window) and replace them with the annunciator panel which is now on the copilot's side. Other products do the same with standby instruments for better "real-estate" management and the radar most likely will be just a "dud" so both could be safely moved to another window. On the other hand the ann. panel will probably be fully functional and with its alert/warning capability should probably belong in the main view for quick reference. To compound challenges the glareshield panel is fairly thick on this plane. And then there is the FMS which could be in yet another window. Who knows maybe PMDG will find even better solution to the layout woes.If you consider there is no turboprop in FS2002 that would be remotely similar in its technical accuracy to some of the add-on jet aircraft one has to be excited about this project. There is a Eurowings ATR-42 coming for FS2002 but this product will be a bundle of a few aircraft and I just wonder if you can deliver quality and quantity at the same time.Michael J. Michael J.
