Rob / Lefteris - Is this feasible?

Featured Replies

Rob / Lefteris,I know this has been asked before, I hope you guys would re-consider.Is it feasible / possible to get the Fly2 757 and/or 777 to interface to the Aerosoft Australia MCP747 (http://www.mcp747.com/)?I'm an owner of all of your fine aircraft for Fly!/Fly!2K, Fly2. I believe this would add immense realism and system integration for the Fly! pilot.I own the MCP747 and use it with PS1 and FS2K2 (with the Project Magenta software) and will state the level of realism is off the charts.I believe if an interface were produced, sales would eventually increase.I would pay for an interface, I'm sure others would too.Regards,Bob Lyddy

Bob-We don't own the hardware you mention, but if the Aerosoft Australia team would want us to integrate it, I am more than willing to take a look to see what's required. However, I would need a demo unit to do so.

Lefteris,Thanks for the positive repsonse. I'll contact Andrew at Aerosoft. If need be I'm willing to contribute some $$$ (up to half the price) if a demo unit needs to be purchased.I want to see this interface developed.Regards,Bob Lyddy

count me in with the contribution.tony

Hey Lefteris,I'd be happy to help you guys out but I would need one to work with :-lolSeriously, if you can get the 757 to work with the MCP set up you may have something marketable to the big boys as a training device since the MCP matches the one in the A/C. :-rollJust thinking out loudRegardsPaul:-cool

Tony / Paul,Glad to hear others would like to see an interface developed. :-jumpy :-cool I can say being able to physcially interact with a piece of hardware just raises the level of realism. Add in PMDG's awesome 757/767/777 and the realism bar is raised through the roof.An EFIS and ECIAS add-on module is planned for release in the very near future. It just gets better and better.....Here's hoping things can be worked out.:-beerchug Bob Lyddy

I suppose this means I am going to have to dedicate a room in my house to simming. Oh the wife will LOVE that. :-lolThe look of the boxes is amazing. These guys must be connected to the company that builds the actual MCP's for the 7x7's since they are extrememly accurate.RegardsPaul:-cool

Bob and everyone,I got a very encouraging response from Andrew Mc Lean - it seems this should be a very simple task to perform (famous last words?). I will email him shortly in response, to give him shipping details, etc., but expect this to occur soon AFTER we receive the unit (THIS is the delaying factor here, as they are in Australia and I am located in Athens, Greece). It's possible it will require a patch/upgrade to the 777 and 757 DLLs, but we might take the opportunity to release the ILS patch together with that, provided that Rich has since released the fix to the Fly!2 internal code (we're hoping!).

Paul,I highly recommend the Aerosoft products as they are high quality units and Andrew provides top notch support (like PMDG).I've already been banned to the basement by my wife. She tolerates my sim flying as it's cheaper and safer then real world flying. When I first met my wife I was a newly minted private pilot who was constantly using my new skills (and burning lots of $$$ in the process, but that doesn't matter, flying matters). So when we were married I had a choice (and my choice it was) to wither devote my $$$$ to flying or buy a house. Being newly married I chose the house and eventually my PPL lapsed.I've always told my wife once she stops tolerating my simming I'm becomming current and will start real world flying again. So, I have my toys in the basement...Sorry for the long boring story,Bob L

I still feel very strongly that people will pay anything if the value is there. But don't ask, because even the very rich will tell you that they cannot afford a bigger tip after leaving their favorite restaurant in the $50000+ auto. I have for many years considered myself lucky to be living during a period of flight sims that are practically being given away for free. Heck, I'd rather sell my product(if the value is there) at a higher price and reduce the number of less than serious customers.tony

Bob-I got a reply from Andrew Mc Lean who will be sending me an item next week. It might take a couple weeks for it to arrive, so I wouldn't expect any news on it until at least the end of August... I will keep you posted on when it arrives, though!
