June 23, 200322 yr Hello, I have searched the forum for this question but didn't come up with anything that answered my question, so if you could please take the time to answer this question. Does the FMC give you options/data for one engined operation E.G. Failure of one of the engines. -----------------------[bR]Matthew Murray[bR]Jet-Precision[bR] http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
June 24, 200322 yr Commercial Member Matthew-Are you absolutely CERTAIN that one-enginged operations means that you've had a failure of one of the engines? We're gonna hafta check to be sure you are right...:-lol Robert S. June 24, 200322 yr Robert, I was using that as a simple example that your engine has failed. There may be other factors that cause you to run on one engine. -----------------------[bR]Matthew Murray[bR]Jet-Precision[bR] http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
June 25, 200322 yr Hey, I don't mean to be rude BUT is there an answer to my question OR is PMDG too busy with the 737NG to answer my question? -----------------------[bR]Matthew Murray[bR]Jet-Precision[bR] http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
June 25, 200322 yr Matthew, yes they are very busy right now, that's an understatement! I currently do not that option althouth the *prompt* is there, don't know if it's ever been done before or really can be programmed? PIC does not have it. If it *can* be done, it MIGHT be seen in 800-900 series, I will ask.... ;)[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]Are You Ready For The Next Great one? June 25, 200322 yr Well, i did the CBT section on ENG OUT promt just earlier today and from what i lernt I cant see why it would be a major problem? Now from what i understand VNAV normally calculates data for two engines running. When an engine goes out you press the ENG OUT promt and then must choose which engine has gone "out". The FMC basically then shows the performace now. Basically a new MAX ALT, and TGT SPD with a Max N1%. You cannot EXEC the changes but to get back to normal twin engine ops press the ERASE TABI mean easy enough to program i would imagine its just the performance data that may be slighly harder to come by...
June 25, 200322 yr Commercial Member Liam-Can I ask the folks be a bit reserved with such comments as "easy to program?"It astounds me that this is the second time in three days that somebody has demanded something of our developers under the guise that it is "easy to program."When you start talking about an airplane as complex as this- NOTHING is easy to program. Every single addition requires a massive amount of checking against other criteria to assure nothing has been broken by the "simple" addition.Also- I should mention that although the crew interaction with the Engine Out logic is quite easy according to the CBT- the FMC is not simply changing the engine thrust setting. It is FAR more cimplicated than that. Remember- these FMCs cost millions of dollars...if it were simple to do- we'd be marketing ours to Boeing as a low cost alternative...So, Liam- keep practicing with your CBT- the training will benefit you greatly when you get your hands on our airplane.... but please be carefuly about what you think is "simple to program." June 25, 200322 yr Sorry RobertYes i realise now i think about it interaction between all the different parts of the sim will be necessary its just when i hear what you are doing i sit and look at a function like this and think "they must be able too"Anyway, yes ill keep up with the CBT! Only a few more sections to go :D
June 26, 200322 yr Commercial Member Liam-No worries, sir! I figured that was the case... That's the problem with us pilots- we don't see what's so hard about pushing a simple button and having something work!We don't often understand ALL of the mechanics behind it...although most of us THINK we do!I think there is enough in this airplane to keep you busy for a few months at least... You may not even notice the engine out pages missing! Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com

June 26, 200322 yr Also, be careful what your learn from *Certain* Boeing CBT's, I have them all and only a few are up to date with FMC U10 etc and there is always *Airline options* to keep in mind before thinking something on a CBT is set in stone, this is more for a heads up down the road...[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J.
