Nav autotuning?

Featured Replies

Hi,Besides the already commented VNAV killer dive that nearly killed me, I see no way to set the nav aid autotuning en route.I have to tune the radios on the radio panel during flight or there is some way to make the FMS to tune them (as in real life)? One more: I downloaded the PIC767 Navdata. Are only the .txt files what it needs? or all the other stuff (*.rwy, *.tr, *.wsd) also works?Very nice product, but seems that many things have to be completed!Maximo

The real 737NG does not have NAV auto tuning. Please remember, this is a 737 and not a 767.Please install all the 767PIC Navdata as provided by NavData in its default folder, FS2002/FMCWP.

MarkI was no talking about me!I am not angry at all, but I read posts from people very nervous when things do not work as they expect.I learned not to take things in such way, this is an educational hobby, not a teminal issue!I like very much you product, and I am customer since the FLY!I days...Best regards..Maximo

Thanks, Tanguy.Seems strange that an older plane has auto tuning and the NG dooesn

Okay, sorry for misunderstanding you. I really appreciate your attitude. But then again, now you know we're here for you! ;-)

in that point i have to agree with Marcif you want autotuning you should purchase an A320 ;)i've gone through the whole 737 AOM. there is no autotuning

Sorry but that is not true. Taken from the Boeing 737-600/-700/-800/-900 operations manual."Inflight, the FMC position is continually updated from the GPS, Navigation radios and IRS. Updating priority is based on the availability of valid data from the supporting systems. FMC Position updates from Navigation Sensor positions are used in the following priority order:GPStwo or more DME stationsOne VOR with colocated DMEone Localizer and collocated DMEone localizer.11.20.3" FMC logic selcets the position from one of the GPS sensors (two sensor installed that run independent of each other). When GPS position data is available, radio updating can also occur. If all GPS data becomes unavailable, The FMC position will be determinned by radio or inertail (IRS) updating."And this is IF the aircraft has a the option for GPS, if then primary possition updates would come from station tuning.Sorry left this out....11.20.9(DME)Two frequency scanning DME systems are installed. The FMC autotunes DME recivers as necessary for posistion updating. Durning normal operations, two different DME signals or a single from a collocated VOR/DME pair provide an accurate radio geografical posistion to the FMC.the identifiers of the DMEs currently providing update data to the FMC are displayed on the NAV STATUS page 1/2. The radio position is displayed on the POS REF page 2/3.

Martin --A friendly reminder, your sig image is out of regulation with the avsim image sig policies. Please note that it must conform to the 400x60 px rule(or any multiple of width height :)Thanks for your compliance.

I suspect this is how the position is updated for the FMC and not necessarily how the radios are updated.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)

There is NO auto tuning on the NG period. You are not reading anything about the radios auto tuning ILS etc.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one?
