July 2, 200322 yr Commercial Member Greg, Regarding the Frame Rate issue, I highly suspect you are encounteriung the VC problem that has been well covered in the forum. Can't tell you on the AS/GS Split except to say that on my 757's (the real ones), you are allowed 6-10 kt split at sea level without corrective action. July 11, 200322 yr "GregWell, I can clear up part of this problem. The reason the Marker reads 20 kts higher than the selcted speed has to do with the Autoflight system. The speed dialed in the window for T/O should be V2. Desired climb is V2+20 so the Flight director will display V2+20 speed on the ADI Speedtape."Paul.... Page 12 of the 737NG Automatic Flight section at http://www.smartcockpit.com/ suggests that V2+20 only appears if "CMD" is selected (After T/O, CMD can only be selected above 400'). Selecting CMD causes a pitch mode change to LVL CHG. Our Boeing Maintenance Manual seems to indicate that TOGA will remain the pitch mode unless you select something on the MCP after T/O.... meaning that the selected V2 speed will remain displayed in the MCP window and on the MASI.Notwithstanding, in TOGA mode, the F/D pitch bar will be giving you the correct guidance to attain V2+20 once sufficient V/S has been achieved after liftoff.Hope this helps?Cheers.Ian.

"In addition to yesterday's "critique" :-) on the subject, Paul, this came in my mailbox today from a 737 pilot (Classic). Not sure if it is applicable to the NG however....After liftoff..."As I remember it from 10 years ago, the Fright Detector :-) automatically uses V2 + 20 for a climb airspeed target after takeoff. The MCP display of target airspeed does not change from V2 until at least 1 click of the set knob, at which time it will jump to the speed being used." (i.e. V2+20.... or whatever the FD has commanded for the climb)Definitely a strange bird ;-)Cheers.Ian.
