August 2, 200322 yr In my browsing, I have yet to see this one mentioned...WinXP Pro - Virgin clean install, up to date with DX9b and various patches and drivers. FS2004 - Virgin clean install, ran once to establish a config file and settings. PMDG 737NG - Virgin clean install.Patched to SU1 - Virgin clean install and reboot. Ran the 737NG on my next time in. I run full-screen mode, and had to switch to windowed in order to acknowledge the "unregistered" prompt - this is done while loading the scenario.Upon entering the simulator proper, my 737NG is ROCKETING down the runway with the engines spooling up. The scenery is an ugly soup, not at all loaded in yet. I have yet to bring it to a halt before the end of the KSEA runway. By the time I stop it in the overrun grass off the runway, the autogen buildings are just being drawn in, and the ground textures are moving from a thick green to a more "textured" look. This has occured BOTH with the standard, Seattle C172 default scenario as the "startup", and with a customized COLD AND DARK scenario. In that case, the B737NG rockets down the runway with all displays turned off. It has also occured when selecting the DEFAULT FLIGHT - I was expecting to be in the C172, as selected, but the B737 loaded in and I was off to the races. A restart of the sim allowed me into the proper scenario without any PMDG interference. This is very reminescent to the SLEW problem, whereby if you move your aircraft with slew, it can sometimes rocket off in the forward direction.Reinstalls are not an option, as this is occuring on the initial clean install of the aircraft and patch on a clean install of the sim.Irritating as all heck. Anyone have any pointers? Is this a product of the full-screen to windows to full-screen issues?-Greg Germ
August 2, 200322 yr Updating my previous problem:It only occurs with the PMDG aircraft. It does not matter if the default startup scenario is the Seattle default OR a personalized default. Launching with the PMDG 737 causes it to go nuts.It did not happen prior to the patch. In my experimentation before my reload (pre-patch), the PMDG 737 would load in cold and dark, as specified by my personalized startup scenario. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like IMMEDIATELY after the cockpit appears. The GPWS and many other alarms go off as soon as this happens...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/27509.jpgAs you can see, textures aren't loaded, there are some autogen buildings visible "through" the horizon line, the airspeed is way up there, and the G-load indicates the airplane was "dropped" onto the runway. This smells just like the motion that occurs when you come out of slew - as if you are on the ground, and slew "drops" you that foot or so. I can avoid this problem if I load in **ANY** other aircraft, and switch when on the runway, but that's not a fix, it's a workaround. Any info on a potential fix (or if it's being looked at already) would be greatly appreciated. In addition to the above scenario startup problem, I am getting more porpoises than an aquarium. Flying in VNAV mode, throughout the climb and especially in cruise, VNAV is bouncing all over kingdom come. If I task switch out to windows, such as to write this note, the problem goes away, but returns in time when I go back to the sim. (I have the sim set NOT to pause on switch)Also, there is a lot of lateral motion as well, as evidenced by the dashed turn radius line in one of the mfd's. Neither one smooths out over a flight. Are both of these problems a product of the "noise" that the FS2004 autopilot is introducing, as mentioned in the sticky threads above? The panel seems smooth and functional. Too bad the plane isn't.(This is on a not-yet-registered aircraft, in case that makes a difference)-Greg
August 3, 200322 yr Hi Jimmy,Just recently saw your reply.Figured out your solutions.Indeed the overhead panel appears correct using the "o" button.I'm flying with HOTAS Cougar and have almost all possible commands programmed including the overhead panel assigned to SHF 7.Strange enough this works in FS2002 without the main panel blocking the view.Guess this is a little bug in PMDG B737 used in FS2004.So I hope there comes a fix soon!BTW; I noticed you are using a 9700PRO with the latest Omega drivers. Are you able to set 4x Anti-Aliasing in 1600x1200?Only works for me in Catalyst 3.4. Any later revision limits 4x AA to 1024x768.Haromo

August 4, 200322 yr Howdy Haromo!Yes, I am able to set 4x AA at 1600x1200 resolution using the Omega Drivers. Anisotropic Filter is set at 8X and on performance as opposed to quality. I have most everything turned on and up in FS2004. Mip-mapping left set at 4 is a must! I get somewhat bad framerates when looking at or near big cities. Maybe due to using MyTraffic 2004? But otherwise doing fine and I can live with the poor city fps for now and I don't want to turn MyTraffic off. But I might to see if it makes any difference. I'm hoping for improvements in future driver revisions. And of course, a fix to the darned annoying flashes. You have a HOTAS Cougar? Nice, you must be liking that. I beleive I heard it has no twisting rudder control. Is this true? I also heard somewhere at some point in time they're going to come out with a version of it that does. Have you heard anything about this? Or does the one you have now have twisting capability?Cheers,Jimmy Richards"Variable, this is EasyRhino. Do you copy? Over." Loud and clear EasyRhino. "Do we have a gig? Over." That's a Roger, we have a gig. Target is painted, start the music. "Roger that Variable. Into attack. Pickling target. Target is acquired and lit. LGB comin' down!" EasyRhino, circular error probability zero. Impact with High Order Detonation. Thank You, have a nice day.
