July 4, 200322 yr I think I figured it out, for an interm fix anyways.do the following:Important, start APU up, just like normal, and set APU bleed to on. Start engines, and set there bleeds to on. Turn the engine generators to on(both sides). This will make the APU Gen Bus lights go on. Hit the APU gen buttons and prepare your plane. Once you are ready to start your plane, (this is the KEY) turn off the APU bleed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then move the APU power switch to off. Watch your EGT go to 0 like it is supposed to. Please note that this will take roughly 10+ seconds(not sure how long.....I am guessing):))))))))))))))Let me know if I am being an idiot and this isn't the solution......Has anyone else reported this find yet?
July 4, 200322 yr Oh BTW, right before you move your APU power switch to off, you will want to hit the Gen1 and Gen2 power switches to make sure that the plane is powered by the engines. Then proceed with the APU power down.
July 4, 200322 yr FredDo you have any idea if fuel imbalance is APU on related, in the 700? at least over here it seems that when I managed APU off don't have the fuel problem.Jos
July 4, 200322 yr It's related to extinguishers discharging mid-flight, I've already checked it on three flights, it always happens to the right engine and the APU. As soon as that happens, the fuel goes out of whack. Please note that this will take roughly 10+ seconds(not sure how long.....I am guessing)"The 373NG APU goes through a 60 second cool-down cycle when you select OFF. Have you tried this? This delay is required to prevent "coke" in the turbine bearing and fuel nozzles. At 30% speed on shutdown, the APU air inlet door starts to close (It closes immediately for an APU fire). At less than 7% speed, an APU restart can be initiated.Wait 40 seconds after the EGT goes below 300C for the inlet door and fuel shutoff valve to close before you move the battery switch to OFFDo not use the battery switch to shut down an APU as this will result in an immediate shutdown.Cheers.Ian.
