July 4, 200322 yr Hi Guys, I'm having random problems with the autopilot control panel operations. I have not been using the FMC on my flights. At the beginning or the middle of the flight the switches stop operating. I can see the indicators on the PFD change, but the lighted buttons, switches and digital indicators on the panel will not change. The auto throttle will jam, not allowing me to manually control throttle. Any suggestions would be appreciated.mouseWin XP homePIII 1.2560 RAMRadeon 7200 RAM 64
July 5, 200322 yr Me too. I lost the entire autopilot on final to KATL and could not get it back. Had to go missed approach and fly manually. Flying manually is not easy, I hope Robert has a tweak lined up for an airfile that is more stable longitudinally.
July 5, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi mouse. Can you please elaborate on that ?E.g. state you were in, what you wanted to do, what mode did you select etc...Thanks,Vangelis==================================== E. July 5, 200322 yr Commercial Member Nameless,We had members of this forum "accusing" us that the flight model is too easy to fly, shurely shome mishtake.Let me make this clear. The FDE will not change one bit. PERIOD... Unless you mean something else in which case let us talk about it.Vangelis========================================= E. M. July 5, 200322 yr For instance, if you're in app mode with loc / gs engaged, there's no way to get out of it (deselect light extinguishes) apart from switching the AP off and recycle the FDs.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
July 5, 200322 yr Hi Team,i experienced this too on a flight from EDDM to EDDH.After reaching T/D the A/P did react to my inputs but there were no different numbers shown on the MCDU, e.g. the Levelchange-Button did not highlight after clicking on it, nor did the selected speed come up...i managed a land without autothrottle due to the outstanding smoothness of the airplane, which i am kudoing to...i forgot, clicked the LOC/APP-Button, also these did not highlight but the A/C entered the glideslope. On the ground and after switching the Power-Source the A/P came back alive and showed up properly. So it felt like the A/P lost parts of its functionality for no reason..oh yes, the APU was extinguished again...maybe correlating to something??Cheers and hope that helped fixing thisHolger Holger Kneib
July 5, 200322 yr Yeah I had something screwy happen to me too. Flying into kind 23L. Captured loc/GS and started fallowing them. Put autopilot on APP/LOC and it fallowed it fine and everything but there was one problem. It was working but the lights on the buttons did indicate that it was on either did the FD.
July 5, 200322 yr Hi Guys, This has happened to me on take off, while cruising and landing. Sometimes it will correct itself but other times I have to restart Flight Simulator. I haven't been able to isolate it to any one thing that I'm doing. As you can see from the photos below, the Autopilot Panel does not reflect what is displayed on the PFD. I was not using the FMC for navigation although I did enter the departure and arrival airports KLAX to KSAN. I was changing speed using the autothrottle SPEED setting, and dialing the speed I wanted. I was using the HDG SEL setting to change course. I used the VS and altitude knob to change altitude. I was following an FS flight plan, and had Active Sky running. I had been cruising at 20,000 ft, following FS traffic control instructions I descended to 12000. When I received instructions to descend to 8,000 the autopilot panel started to malfunction. None of the switches, buttons or digital displays would move or change color and I lost all control of throttle including manual control. On other occasions I would lift off and passing 500ft I would try to engage the autopilot and nothing would work. I hope this helps.Thanks,mousehttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/21383.jpg
July 5, 200322 yr Commercial Member Mouse,Your autopilot is disengaged...(check the "bar" under the DISENGAGE label). You did this ? By accident ?Cheers,Vangelis========================================== E. M. Vaos Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com========================================== ==================================== E M V Precision Manuals Development Group ====================================
July 5, 200322 yr No, I disingaged it on purpose, I was trying to get control of the aircraft so I could land. Even after I disingaged the autopilot, I could not switch off the autothrottle, and I couldn't manually control thrust. If I can make it happen again I'll take another snap shot without messing with the disengage lever.
July 5, 200322 yr William, On the real NG the APP light only illumes when armed and once ACTIVE the APP light will go out. [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one? July 5, 200322 yr Commercial Member You mean you clicked on the AT switch and it just stayed armed (on) ?The autopilot and the autothrottle are two DIFFERENT automatic systems. Disengaging one does not disengage the other. Obviously, if AT is armed AND speed or thrust mode selected the AT system will bombard FS with throttle commands and manual control will not be possible. Check this out will you ?Cheers,======================================= E. M. July 5, 200322 yr Well I just tried a duplicate flight of the one described above from KLAX to KSAN and the same thing happened (see below Picture).I lost control of autothrottle and while PFD showed a change to VS mode the button on the Autopilot Control Panel Marked VS did not light up,and the digital display below VERT SPEED did not appear. I tried to click on LVL CHG and again the PFD showed the change but the button did not illuminate. So I changed back to VS mode and again no button change and no VERT SPEED display. To answer your last question, the switch marked A/T ARM would not move no matter how I clicked on it, and I had no control of throttle. Thanks for the quick response to my post, I appreciate it. Sorry if I'm causing headaches :-).mouse http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/21489.jpg
July 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member Unfortunately, that's not the case with the panel. While in a SINGLE CH approach, with both the AP in CMD and the F/D's on, switching off the F/D will kill the app mode! Just try it...I didn't test this with a dual A/P approach yet.Regards,Mark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
July 6, 200322 yr Hi Guys, Sick of hearing from me yet ? I figured out what the problem is. I was switching control panel views using SHIFT 3 so I could get a closer view of the PFD and see the barometer setting. When you hit SHIFT 3 again to go back to normal view it causes the autopilot control panel to malfunction. If I click on M in the list of letters controling panel views everything goes back to normal. Moral of the story.....don't hit SHIFT 3 lol.mouse
