July 6, 200322 yr I think your product is definitely a great piece of work, and from the shots the model looks incredible. However, as some of you might know, I'm all for the -800, I don't care about all the other variants. I would be willing to buy the other variants, but I think $40 for a plane (just because you change a few things here and there doesn't mean it's a new model) with panel and sounds is a rip-off, especially since I don't want the other 3 variants. Now, my question is, will there be a chance to buy the -800/-900 with panel and sounds? I'd be willing to pay the $40 for those 2 models, I just can't get myself to spend more than $50 (add the first and 2nd part and I assure you that's what you'll come up with) for a bunch of models I know I won't fly.Cheers,Daniel Pimentel

July 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member Daniel,According to the information posted in the PMDG site (see signature below) you can buy the 800/900 as a stand-alone package yes or the -600/700 and pay an update fee (not twice the full price ofcourse). It is not just "a few changes here and there" but includes some major additions. I would therefore refrain from using phrases like rip-off etc unless you feel that your 40 bucks were to get you a nicely painted something that flew like (deleted) with default AP, no FMC, static mediocre panel graphics and phoney system logic. That or even half that would be a rip-off I absolutely agree.Regards,Vangelis========================================= E. M. July 6, 200322 yr Ok, if I can buy the -800/-900 with panel and sounds by themselves then that's perfect. I still think the add-on is overpriced, but I can manage. Thanks for the replies.Daniel PimentelPS - Oh, and Vin... Are the cabin row numbers still coming? :-lol
July 6, 200322 yr Oh, and Vangelis...I do not think by any means that your product is mediocre, but let's face it, for $40 you can get quite a lot from other places... I want to support PMDG, and despite thinking the product is a little high on the price scale, I'll buy it... I appreciate the work that goes into the plane, I just question if it's REALLY worth the entire $40. Won't go into comparisons with other developers since I think you know what's out there and its cost. I do respect PMDG's decision to price their product like they did and to "rent" me the plane, but that doesn't mean I agree with it, nor does it mean I won't voice my disagreement.Daniel Pimentel
July 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member I stand corrected Daniel.. Sorry... and YES... the row numbers will be there!!!!!!VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
July 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member Daniel,Just remember how much you'd spend for 1 hour in a real Cessna 172. Or how much a real 737NG simulator costs. $40 seems cheap by comparison if you ask me for something that you probably could do cockpit familiarization for the real aircraft on...Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 6, 200322 yr That's not the way I evaluate value... I do so by comparing it with products on a similar level of detail and products that have achieved breakthrough in the past. If you only compare with stuff that is more expensive, of course it'll seem cheap in comparison. I cannot fully ascertain whether the product is worth the bucks without trying it though, so I will give this a go. :)Daniel Pimentel
July 6, 200322 yr IMHO on the price of the plane:I think PMDG deserves a return on their investment and even though that investment is mostly time - time is money :) If you don't think so, lets say you keep working your day job at the factory and at the end of the week you say to your boss "Don't worry about the check, it was only time!" You wouldn't dare set that presidence! ;) But, they also have money invested in compilers for the programming language and such. They also have credit card fees that could be as high as 10% depending on what kind of deal they have. This doesn't include the cost of SSL and all of that good stuff for the merchant part of the site. Now, that being stated and agreed upon (you do agree, don't you :)): I think anybody deserves a modest return on investment, but lets face it. In another two years we will be paying $70 and $100 for freak'n bird equipment or scenery. Yes I know a real 737 or 747 is millions of smackers. I know if I were to buy John F. Kennedy Airport, that it would cost billions of smackers and the NY/NJ Port Authority wouldn't sell it to me anyway. Also, has the thought crossed anybody's mind that for $40 I would like a manual - at release? For $40 the beta testing should have been more wide-spread to avoid some of the horror stories I have read and personally experienced. Forget "secrecy" and all that. What about "Q".I have been waiting a LONG time for a 737. When I heard this unit was coming out I didn't buy the DF unit because I wanted as modern of technology that my money and time could afford. Bottom line: Return on investment is one thing, but this is bordering on insane or highway robbery (and I won't retract that). I too am only really interested in the 800/900 series. So, that means I am going to have to pull more money out, which I originally understood wasn't the case. I understood we were getting the 8/9 series later, but for the all inclusive price. Just thinking.....Wilson HinesUAL006|UPS1008|CX776--------------------------------------Proficiencies: PSS 747,777, A32x, CS 727---------------------------------------ActiveSky|FSRealTime|FSBuild2|FSNav|Jep SimCharts2---------------------------------------Athlon XP 2600+|Thermaltake Volcano 7+|Gigabyte GA-7VXP (rev1.1)|Geil PC3200 512MB|GeFarce Ti4600|Antec 1060 SOHO|WD 120 GB 8MB round cables|Lite-On 48X CDRW|Razer Boomslang|19" NEC FE950 & 19" Sony Trinitron| Saitek X45 throttle and stick|HP Scanner and DeskJet 890C|MS Win XP SP1|http://heavylhc.com/images/av/anna.jpg
July 6, 200322 yr If you don't like the price then don't buy it. This sim has more detail than any other out there and probably a better flight model. I,for one, think it is worth every penny and think that a team that has probably spent thousands of hours designing it deserve whatever they think it is worth. Tom
