July 16, 200322 yr Moderator PMDG,The position of undocked panels is not being saved when saving a flight. I undocked the FMC, moved it to my 2nd monitor, resized it and saved the flight. On loading FS2002 and choosing the flight the undocked panel is positioned in the top-left of the primary monitor - not where I saved it on the 2nd monitor.I am able to save undocked panels on both default and other specialist aircraft such as the 767PIC so I should be able to do the same with the PMDG. Please confirm you will fix this in the forthcoming patch. Thanks, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 16, 200322 yr Hi Ray,Yes, I have the same problem with the FMC. With the other panels it's different though. I've made a cold and dark situation like this:I selected the overhead panel from Views in the menu bar, which is then on top of the main view, undock it to my second monitor, then use the PMDG buttons to show the radios and throttles and undock them as well. I save the situation like this. Now, when I start it up again, if I choose the overhead from the Views menu again it will appear on my second monitor. Likewise, if I push the buttons for radios and throttles, they will appear on my second monitor. However, I do have two issues with this:- Frequently when I push the PMDG button for radios, if the FMC is also shown on my second monitor first the FMC will disappear and only when I push the radios button again will they show up. The throttles might be affected also by disappearing.- If I save a situation like I have described above, there is no way I can get the fire alarm bell and fire light to work in the fire test. This may sound like a silly problem, but I really like that fire test to work well. However, if I don't save the situation like that, whenever I want to fly I'm first busy arranging the views. Ah, how difficult life can be sometimes :-)Leo BakkerP.S. When I was in the KLM 738 sim last week, naturally I wanted to test all the bells and whistles as well. I thought the PMDG fire bell sounded a bit like a mechanical alarm clock going off and suspected they had indeed recorded just that. To my utter surprise it turned out that that is in fact how the real thing sounds as well!
July 16, 200322 yr Author Moderator Hi Leo,I appreciate you taking the time to describe how you get these panels working on your system. However, no special technique should be necessary as panel windows are standard across FS2002. If I undock a panel and save the flight then when I reload that flight the panels should reappear in the same position.Your situation regarding the overhead is slightly different to mine but I did try choosing the FMC from the Views menu, undock it and move it to the 2nd monitor and then save the flight. On loading another flight and then the PMDG one the FMC is still being positioned on the primary monitor to start with but once the load sequence is complete it actually disappears and has to be rechosen by either pressing the F icon or choosing from the Views menu. This is not how any other aircraft / panel combo works so I am reporting it as a bug. A response from PMDG is still requested.Regards, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 17, 200322 yr Ray, I've found that the FMC panel does not "play by the panel.sdk rules" ..I tried to default it to a different location than the upper left corner, but no amount of changes in the panel.cfg file can convince it to show up anywhere but where it likes to be.. I do not even need a second monitor to identify this behavior.. Bert
July 17, 200322 yr Author Moderator Hi Bert,Interesting. Then definitely a bug as far as I'm concerned and hopefully, you too. I know PMDG don't always comment on messages but they assure me they do read them so I'll consider this a bug that they will fix.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 17, 200322 yr Hi Ray,I didn't mean to suggest that PMDG leave it as it is. I do hope they will do something about not just your issue, but about the two issues that I added. However, I did want to describe as precisely as possible what I found, both in the hope that, before it is fixed, it might benefit others, and also, because maybe it will ease the analysis for PMDG.Leo Bakker
July 17, 200322 yr Author Moderator Hi Leo,I didn't interprete it as that so if you thought I did - sorry. This issue does at least deserve an acknowledgement from PMDG even if it's just to say they've read it and will make changes.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
