Power loss in tutorial flight preparation

Featured Replies

Help,I keep losing power when trying to prep the FMC. The APU bus is on and the bus switches have been flipped as dsecribed in the tutorial. Can anyone clue me in to where I might bew going wrong?CheersPatrick (Satchmo) Howard

I was going to ask this same question this morning. It appears to be a power loss, except that the APU is still running - just all the screens and FMC go black. I start one engine, the screens immediately come back. If I shutdown that engine again...the screens go black after about 2 minutes. P.S. This is starting from a "cold & dark" situation for me.

Not sure, but I sometimes get strange power problems as well. It's probably me doing something wrong. However, most of the time I can regain power by flipping that battery switch off/on....Regards,Henk-Jan

I'm starting from a cold and dark situation too. This has happened four attempts in a row now and is really starting to become annoying. x(I did read earlier about using FSUIPC to increase the battery life, but you need to register (i.e spend yet more money)to do this (which I don't have). Is this problem a bug..or have I just 'missed' something?CheersSatchmo

This is a bug (I'm using FS9 - not sure if it also happens in FS2002).Certain systems (FMC, MCP, PFD, EICAS, external lights) lose power about 6 minutes after you turn the battery on.This occurs even with external power or APU power properly applied. The workaround is simple, though - just start an engine! :-)- Bill Ruppel

Yes Bill - that is what I have resorted too :-hmmm I'm sure something will be fixed in the future...for now, I will be sucking in baggage handlers or the occasional pilot doing his walkaround :-lol

Hi, add this to the aircraft.cfg elecrical section (if its not there then copy and paste both lines). Make the brackets square. This might solve the problem as it did for me :)(electrical)electric_always_available=1Gerrit Kranenbarg
