August 6, 200322 yr That was a cruel trick you played on me in encouraging me to use that vacuum cleaner called PMDG_737_REMOVE.EXE. Boy did it do its job with enthusiasm. I had just figured out how to create a sort of SID/STAR from the fairly sketchy templates - and actually got it to work - when whoosh it was all gone. I guess you had to really read the notes right! But yes - sure enough - missed that bit.All-in-all it was well worth the effort, the aircraft performs great now, but was it really necessary to so completely remove everything?
August 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member We warned you to back up... Sorry you didnt read that.VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
August 6, 200322 yr The product worked exactly as they said it would for me, which is to say it removes everything to provide a perfectly clean environment for re-install. After using the remover I installed the base pack then the update and no more insufficient fuel errors! Thanks PMDG!Mike
August 6, 200322 yr Sorry to the PMDG guys but I have seen a disturbing trend of seemingly curt answers that don't even really answer the question posed. I don't think his question was silly, rhetorical, or intended to be rude. So what is the answer? Is it really necessary to wipe everything when using the uninstaller? Many programs have a check box that allows you to save your saved games/flights, user files etc.You guys have done a fantastic job creating what I consider one of the top addons out there, please don't ruin that by having questionable customer service. Tim
August 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member Tim-We are currently providing support for thousands of individuals with thousands of setups. To provide support, you need to have a way to "base line" the installation. The remove tool is doing exactly that for us- so yes it IS necessary. The tool states clearly a few times that it will kill everything related to the PMDG 737.....I think you have missed the point of Vin's message. He is acknowledging to the poor fellow that yes- we know it wiped out his SID/STAR and we're sorry.... and yes, we tried to warn him. There are 5 of us providing support in this forum in "live time."If we decide to move to a PSS style locked forum- the answers will always be more in depth- but they won't be as timely. Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
August 6, 200322 yr Tim, People must take some responsibility, this is not asking much. All that is asked is for them to read the instructions, this same thing happens when installing, I see it over and over again. PMDG has done their part by warning us in the readme to back up our files that we wish to save, so let's do our part as users and customers... [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. August 6, 200322 yr Understood, just FYI, I was not really commenting on the fact that you have to do a clean install, just commenting to the fact that the PMDG representative didn't really answer his question, opting for a short, slight discurteous (imho) response instead. Doesn't really matter now since another PMDG man did answer the question. Thanks again, and I can't say good job enough on the 736/G.Tim
