August 7, 200322 yr The 737NG works great until I try to add one of the liveries. I "think" I'm doing everything per the instructions, but. When I add any livery, FS2004 will crash as soon as I choose any of the 737NG planes. I pick the plane, when I press "Fly". FS2004 crashes to desktop, no messages.I'm sure this old fool is doing something wrong but don't have a clue what. Any suggestions?George Stoddard
August 7, 200322 yr Commercial Member Did you renumber the entries we gave you?Did you install the livery directly to the F9 directory?Let us know exactly what you did, then we can try to figure it out for you :-)VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
August 7, 200322 yr Hello Vin,Thanks. The procedure I'm using exactly is:Install the livery via the installer, directly to the FS9 directory.Copy/Paste the additional config sections to the config file in the proper directory, ie, the directory that the add-on config is located. I renumber the additional liveries starting with the next consecutive number. When I try to pick any of the 737NG aircraft after this, I crash to desktop. This even includes the "House Liveries"Thanks in advance for you help. George StoddardP.S. I've tried several 600 and 700 liveries and they all do the same thing.
August 7, 200322 yr Commercial Member George-Lets walk you through a livery installation and see if we can't get you going...1) Open your AIRCRAFT.CFG for each of the 600, 700 and 700-winglets (total of 3 AIRCRAFT.CFG files) and remove all entries that are not the PMDG house livery. In the end, you should have entries 0,1,2 in the 600 AIRCRAFT.CFG, and entries 0-5 in the 700 and 700 winglets AIRCRAFT.CFG.2) Go into your FS/AIRCRAFT/PMDG737-600 directory and delete any texture folder that is named texture.XX (LEAVE THE texture folder- you are just looking for texture. entries.3) Go into your FS/AIRCRAFT/PMDG737-700 directory and delete any texture folder that is named texture.XX (LEAVE THE texture folder- you are just looking for texture. entries.4)Go into your FS/AIRCRAFT/PMDG737-700-Winglets directory and delete any texture folder that is named texture.XX (LEAVE THE texture folder- you are just looking for texture. entries.5) Run MSFS and ensure you can load the PMDG liveried airplanes.6) Download the Continental Airlines installer.7) Run the installer. If you are running FS9, make sure the installer finds your FS9 installation and the directory that is presented to you is the ROOT DIRECTORY for FS9. If you are running FS2002, you will need to click on the browse button, then edit the window entry so that it reflects the ROOT DIRECTORY of your FS2002 installation.8) When installer is completed, open the FS/AIRCRAFT/PMDG737-700/CO_ADD_TO_AIRCRAFT_CONFIG_FILE.TXT file that has been placed in the 737-700 directory by the installer. (Note: If you are installing a -600 or a winglet airplane instead- you need to go to the 600 or winglet directory to find this file...)9) Find the entry that says, "Copy from below this line" inside the CO_ADD_TO_AIRCRAFT_CONFIG_FILE.TXT. Highlight everything below that line and select EDIT/COPY from the menu or press CTRL+C.10) Open the AIRCRAFT.CFG file that is located in the same directory as the CO_ADD_TO_AIRCRAFT_CONFIG_FILE.TXT. Scroll down until you are below the last aircraft entry (in this case, [fltsim.5]11) Select EDIT/PASTE or hit CTRL+V to paste the copied portion into your AIRCRAFT.CFG file.12) Change all three [fltsim.XX] entries in the section you just pasted to show [fltsim.6], [fltsim.7] and fltsim.8] respectively. 13) Save the AIRCRAFT.CFG file.14) Run MSFS and select the PMDG 737-700. Then select the Continental Airlines Livery....When you install liveries- just be mindful of the fact that if the airplane installs itself into the -600 directory, then you should make the edits to the -600 AIRCRAFT.CFG. Likewise if the installer places itself in the -700-Winglets directory you need to make the edits to the -700-Winglets AIRCRAFT.CFGThat should get you started- let me know if you need more help- Robert S. August 8, 200322 yr Robert,I followed your procedure(in fact I removed/re-installed the 737 and SP1) This is what I had done in the past also. The continental loaded up and works great. I went back and tried the Aero Mexico 700 and the Scandanavian 600 and followed the exact same procedure and they crashed to desktop??? Renumbered the entries, put in the proper config files, etc.Any ideas? This plane is GREAT by the way. I think the vast majority of us out here really do appreciate all of your efforts. Thanks,George Stoddard
August 8, 200322 yr George, can you zip up your config file for the 700 or 600 and email it to me?{[email protected]} http://www.precision...GX_Dev_Team.jpg PMDG Graphic Designer
August 8, 200322 yr Yup,Give me about 20 minutes and I'll get it to you. Thanks, I really appreciate it.George Stoddard
August 8, 200322 yr I have the same problem (often, not always). Especially when I load the 2d-panel. When I click "fly now", FS2004 quits. No messages.
August 8, 200322 yr Pete,I played around a little more and I think I figured out the problem. If I start with the default Cessna flight, THEN choose the 737NG, everything seems to work fine. I should have known this! I know in the past that several add ons go haywire if you choose them during the initial FS startup. Maybe this will help some other folks with the same problem. Thanks for the help.George Stoddard
August 8, 200322 yr I know this solution, but it's still weird. never experienced this problem with any payware plane in FS2002.I always fly the 737NG because it is my favourite plane, so it would be nice when I can load the plane via the create flight screen.Isn't it a driver-related problem?? FS2004 is quite unstable when loading. My screen is always flickering.
August 8, 200322 yr George, glad to see you're up and running at full tilt! http://www.precision...GX_Dev_Team.jpg PMDG Graphic Designer
