Some unsupported tweaking

Featured Replies

Greetings all.Glad to see that I'm not alone in this Randy, your models sure seem very nice also, I've been more into it myself but since I don't know the position where we stand in the "legal" aspects of editing copyright material. I won't be posting any more tweaks to the panel.Anyways, I read about some fellas asking for the panel modifications, could use the email link to send the configuration, but not before some PMDG oficial staff member could report in here what are the implications, etc. for this kind of activity concerning the release of tweaked settings for their product.Best regards,Gustavo B. :-bigangel

Sir,My humble suggestion is:Upload the modified files to PMDG andask them to post the files at their site.I

True it would be NICE if PMDG had a *USER SECTION* like PSS has for downloading user mods-repaints etc on their web site. Not sure if this is a real posibilty but I know PMDG excels in this type of service ;). I am right now having a couple of people check the files to make sure all is ok..... Here is the final product. Notice the flight director and autothrottle arm switches and I have LAVENDER as the DIGIT color. Regardless of the DIGIT color it now blends better at night. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/29266.jpg[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. >How can you go with Lavender??? I reeaally think Apple Green>is more chique! :-lol

Oh I see how you guys are, you like GREEN do ya? How bout deese apples? I only have one bothersome issue with this, at night with the panel lights OFF the GREEN goes a bit dark, I cannot fathom what to make it light up in that case. Oh well will ask around ;)..http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/29309.jpg[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Hello again,I know what I said above, but here's a pic for all to get a glimpse on how things are coming up to. All the changes on my original post now include improvements to the MCP motivated by enhancements on Randy's models. Sure makes it more "realistic" if you compare to the real thing. :-sun1Still waiting for PMDG opinion on this issue tho'. :-waveBest Regards,Gustavo B. :-bigangelPS-Randy: Seems you're 1 step ahead with enhancements to the MCP, right now I was working on those green lights when F/D A/T are on. :-beerchughttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/29315.jpg

Well if you can find a way to give us the MA light for the FD I will concede to a cease fire lol. I CAN do it but the draw back would be having the words "F/D" ABOVE the light, if I can find a real MCP picture like that then I would go for it. Do you have any ideas on how to make the light stay BRIGHT without the panel lights on? I have WAY TOO much time on my hands ;)[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Hi all,There is no need to guess how PMDG thinks about tweaks.Robert wrote:---------------------------------------------------------------------Gents-FIRST A REMIND ABOUT THE PMDG REQUIREMENT FOR USING YOUR NAME WHEN POSTING IN THIS FORUM. (Thank you!)PMDG and most other developers will not provide support in the event that you have made modifications to your setup- as there is virtually no way for us to troubleshoot your problem effectively if we are unable to predict exactly what you have modified and what conflicts you might introduce by accident. We are less concern with you tinkering- but we are very concerned about the difficulty in supporting an conflicts or errors that may arise from it.hence- if you've made user modifications and a problem comes up- you are going to have to reinstall clean before we can help you....I hope that clarifies...Robert S. Randazzo--------------------------------------------------------------------So in my opinion he will not publish this tweaks. He will not kill you either. He was very clear. So I think you will do no harm in giving a download path in this forum. Please give your opinion.Hans van den Dungen

I GOTTA HAVE THIS!!!! :)Great job! If possible, could you E-mail the change files to [email protected] not, I understand. Does look really good. The displays look much easier to read.George Stoddard

Hello Hans,Thank you for the information, and also thanks to everyone else who has wrote admiring the improvements, it really just takes me a couple of hours to do this but there's a lot of "brain-action" involved, so appreciated it guys; I'm sure Randy does as well. :DAbout Robert's post, well, I must have missed that particular one in between the zillion posts I've read so far. I'll contact Randy now and try to engage some kind of team work, instead of parallel improvements like we've been doing so far.:-bang hehe. My idea is to embend the best of our designs into a single file (since we're talking about a 12MB download) and then share the addy for all to download and enjoy.I'll keep you guys up to date.Gustavo B. :-bigangel

UpdateChanges to this update:1- Modified the F/D and A/T switches to look more size, aspect accurate to the real panel.2- Added up the A/T light & night glow when switched to ARM position.3- Background for #'s in selection boxes are not a problem with day or night lightning anymore, no big transition in the color as in default MCP.Problem #1 :-hmmm The light for the F/D is now a difficult issue because the gauge that controls the switch is not large enough in vertical aspect to add up a light in there, so as Randy wrote up a few replies the light would need to be under F/D instead of the real position, hence I haven't edited that part of the MCP, just left it as it is. Also I've seen some pictures of the real MCP which don't have any light on when F/D is switched to ON position. Problem #2 :-hmmm The TOGA button is not realistic as some wrote me, I've receive requests for it to be moved to the real position, which is on the throtle panel, but since this is payware gauges, I can't get into them and edit their behavior in order to add a function or remove it. Hence the best solution so far is the replacement I did to add "TOGA" text in the MCP background bitmap, cause it's more unreal IMO to press a screw!!! to get the TOGA engaged. :-erksBest regards,Gustavo B. :-bigangelEDIT: forgot to sign.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/29491.gif

Attention Gang! :-waveFYI: My enhancemets to the PMDG original panel should be available later today if not so, early tomorrow, at www.avsim.com file library as "PMDG Panel Enhancements" on the FS2004 Panel section.Enhancemets include:1) Changed size & shape for F/D, A/T switches.2) White border around F/D switch and A/P disengage button.3) White tip to the F/D and A/T switches.4) Added A/T green light when in ARM position (also glow for this in night ilumination).5) Replacement of location for FMC and Throtle windows(now they don't obstruct the window selection panel).6) Added default clock icon to Main and Zoomed windows to get the chronometer on screen without changing view.7) Added TOGA text for easier finding of this function.NOTE: Overall looks better now, the only draw back is the missplacement of the "TOGA" button by PMDG creators, which as users must know now, is over the top left "screw" of the MCP. I have replaced that screw for item #7, taking a little realism away, but adding a temporary solution for this until PMDG releases a fixed version with the TOGA on the throtle view, as it should be.*Tested and doesn't affect at all performance of the functionality of the default panel, only adds some "eye candy". Enjoy! :-beerchugBest regards,Gustavo Bultron :-bigangel

Gang it's me again. Important information:Seems like the upload I just did for this tweaks involved more serious stuff, such as "Distriution of Copyrighted PMDG Material".Since it "violates the license agreement of PMDG" as "This panel section contains gauges, artwork and intellectual property thatis the sole right of PMDG."Being this the case, I have requested the file not to be uploaded into avsim file library and emailed the involved parties for the correcting actions to be taken. My formal excuses go to PMDG staff and you all, sorry! :-rollGustavo B. :-bigangel
