Circling Approach

Featured Replies

Heo!One of the most mysterious approaches for me is certainly a circling approach. I know that I should fly downwind leg with MDA, but when do I have to descent? Then the next question is when do I have to start turning into base? Is that defined or you do it by the feeling?I have read PMDG flight training for 737 but I can't find answers to those two questions.Thank you,Nejc

Try LPMA 05 you have VOR/DME circling, NDB circling and visual. For a complete explanation how to do the approach from a Portuguese VATSIM controller:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchFor charts:http://www.portugal-vacc.org/If you want to use PMDG LNAV (you shouldn't :)) try:- Make a fix 6.5NM after FUN radial 213;- Put the the rwy extendend point to 2NM;- Make sure that before the circling you have full landing configuration, during the circling you are descending to the correct altitude; To check the altitude you can use this leading lights:http://www.airsim.net/modules.php?name=Dow...op=getit&lid=32and of course the rwy papiJos
