Probs after Upgrade to 1-1

Hi,I have a problem with the Update 1-1:After I apply the update, my gauges look like:PMDG_~11.GAUI can find the names of the gauges if I look into the binaries. Of cause, the main panel and the OH panel is not working. I cannot use the switches. All of them !If I backup the old ones, and copy them back after applying the patch, I can use the switches. Of cause, I can only use the old ones and that is not the intended use of a patch upgrade:why are the gauges names look like this ?It seems that there is a problem with the upgrade installer ?System: fs9 german version (c:programmemicrosoft games.....), 512 MB main memory. Windows ME german.Base Installation and Registration went well (all electrical systems areworking, the switches are useable, but when i try to upgrade to 1-1 I havethefollowing situation:All of the switches in the overhead panel are not working except the lightswitch. If I turn on the light the rest of the OH panel can not be seen butthe other displays have night lighting. If I turn off the light then the OHPanel can be seen but no switches are working. The main navigation displays are dark. But some of the Switches (A/T,heading...) are working. The engines are running and the aircraft can taxi. I tried several things: your remover tool and reinstall, registrationprocess (i didn

Hello...Would be nice to see an answer to this guys problem.. since I too am having the same issue here too... not sure why...I have done a removal and complete reinstall... the gauges issue and dead, non functional panel remains...Any suggestions?Regards,Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak, Alaska

This sounds like a problem with long filesnames getting truncated. Could be ME thats to blame. Compatibility with the installer? What it sounds like is all the filenames are being reduced to the dos 8.3 naming limit so FS will not find them and PMDG will obviously not operate. Are other directories such as the aircraftpmg737-700-Winglets messed up too or is it JUST the gauges directory?Ray

Hi Ray,It used to work just fine before... well short of the bugs that is...I am now getting the msg Error FS9Flight Simulator was unable to load some aircraft or software, you can continue using Flight Simulator but this aircraft or software will be disabled.File: GAUGESPMDG_737NG_Main.GAU.Any Ideas?I remember something was mentioned some time ago.. but I can not find any reference to it... and I dont have enough life left in me to spend time attempting to read every post in this forum...Thanks for your help!Regards,Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak, Alaska

Hmm, not really sure what would cause it, but you take a look in your fsgauges directory, do you see a whole pile of PMDG~#.gau files? If they have the ~ name, they have been truncated to dos 8.3 format which means FS is probably not seeing them when it goes to load them.If this is the case, look at the sizes, the biggest one is the PMDG_737NG_Main.GAU file though it will be called PMDG~1 or whatever.12,759,040 PMDG_7~4.GAU PMDG_737NG_Main.gau23,552 PMB102~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_Main_Panel_Synch.gau266,752 PM91D1~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_APU.gau553,984 PMA95E~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_ELECTRICAL.gau389,632 PM3459~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_ELECTRICAL_DISP.gau126,464 PMDA07~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_ENGINE_STARTERS.gau161,792 PMFDF2~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_ENG_AI.gau507,904 PM3E7F~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_Flight_Controls.gau349,696 PM29EF~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_FUEL.gau153,088 PMC9B1~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_HYDRAULIC.gau116,224 PM9672~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_LIGHTS_LEFT.gau159,744 PMB959~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_LIGHTS_RIGHT.gau271,872 PMF30A~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_NAV_SOURCE.gau319,488 PM17B5~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_PAX_SIGNS.gau123,904 PM83FE~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_PL_SW.gau725,504 PM6F0C~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_PNEUMATIC.gau465,920 PMDB4A~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_Pressurization.gau188,928 PM9BA1~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_PROBE_HEAT.gau137,216 PMD9A3~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_VOICE_REC.gau282,112 PM35B2~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_OHD_WS_HEAT.gau989,696 PM9A23~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_RADIOS.gau7,932,416 PMD3D1~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_THR_CENTER_CONSOLE.gau940,544 PM1FD3~1.GAU PMDG_737NG_THR_FIRE_CONTROLS.gau122,880 PMDG_ACS.gauThats the before and after names that they should be give or take a bit, there are no two with the exact same sizes so you can rename them to the proper names and see if that gets you outta jail ;)Best I can offer unless you want to post a dir PM*.GAU from your gauges directoryRay

Well Ray... I am lost... this plane and all of its problems sickens me to no end... I have only voiced my despair once.. and then privately... but I have had all I can take.... I dont feel like I should have to become a master programmer to use this sim aircraft that I have paid good money for... I dont have any files in my gauges folder with any numbering system like you've described above... To 7734 with this plane.. and all the associated crap it brings!Regards,Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak, Alaska

Ted, if you don't have that problem like the above user and are getting the gauge error it is a completely different problem.Don't get down on it, start at the beginning and run through what you have done, what version of FS, etc, any error messages that came up on your screen, etc. Ever had a car that wouldn't start? Mechanic says nothing wrong, you get home and car won't start again?Thats the fun/pain of computers at times, so we need to stick together and fight through the pain to have the fun. Post what you can and we'll start hacking through what could have gone wrong.Ray

Sorry to be a continual whiner... but I wont find any resolve or acceptable solution anywhere else...All I know is that I am sick of this stuff...I am using Win2000 and prior to now... it (FS9)worked fine..Why? well it could be one of two reasons...1)I had my computer reset to default by a shop... to fix another problem...2)I installed the upgrade patches following its return home...I am using FS9, and yes FS2002 is installed on this same machine..NO I didnt install to FS2002, at least none of the options that I had any control over...I remember seeing something early on about moving some folder from FS2002, but for the life of me I cant find that post anymore.I have used the removal tool several times and reinstalled and nothing has changed... I cannot even get the registration to come up... At one point these helpful folks at PMDG were assisting me in re-registering their product on another machine I was using while this one was in the shop.. could this have something to do with this?I am not an advocate of anyone placing spyware on my machine, to protect their copyrights or otherwise... I suppose the next suggestion is that someone will suggest reformmating the hard drive and reinstalling the OS and FS!YEAH right... kinda weird too.. that everything else seems to work just fine... all the other payware planes that is... wouldnt know about the default crap.. since I dont use it!I apologize for my bitterness.. but this is way outta hand... and I am outta patience... thanks for understanding and accepting my dilemma...Regards,Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak, Alaska

Ted, I'm running Windows 2000 here too with Both FS 20002 & FS9 installed. The registration panel thing is a non-issue in FS9, it simply will no longer come up after the upgrade.I presume you have the key that was generated prior to your upgrade headaches. Here's what worked for me:Run Remove tool.Reboot in case some evil files are locked.Install the original 1.0 plane.RebootStart FS9, select the register option, fill in your number.Shutdown after this step and install the 1-1 complete version, not the 1 + 1.1 mini. I did not have success getting the mini to apply by itself here, but the complete 1.1 worked like a charm.Give it a try.Ray

Thanks Ray..I will try that... I just cant live without having this plane functional...I sincerely appreciate your assistance, and hope that I can repay the deed in some manner some day!Regards,Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak, Alaska

Ray,Nothing has changed... same ol crap... So whats up with this naming stuff re: the gauge files?I am wondering whats going on here... the same sh*t still happens, it mentions the exact same FS9 error that I quoted before.. the same error box comes up and it requires some 20 or more clicks to get past this point, The plane then loads although without anything other than a dead panel, totally unuseable...I am wondering at this point why the developers dont bother to cut in here and suggest something... maybe they've given up on me? or worse?I am stunned...Regards,Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak, Alaska

Ted,What you may actually have is a corrupted file in the installation. The fact that it flags the Main.gau indicates that something is corrupt in that file. Several others have had this problem and downloading a fresh copy of the three istallation files as well as a fresh copy of the Update fixed the problem. If all else fails give that a tryRegardsPaul Gollnick :-coolTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.com
