September 10, 200322 yr Has anyone had the problem of the HDG SEL not working if the FMC is not programed at all?I flew a VFR flight the other night in FS2002 on Windows 2000 pro and once a took off and tried to set a HDG the plane did not move.Could someone else check this out for me please? Thanks,Travis
September 10, 200322 yr There is nothing wrong with this, I use it all the time without the FMC programmed. Are you sure you have CMD engaged?[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. September 10, 200322 yr Why does HDG SEL engage after TOGA is pressed? I think the roll mode on the FMA should be blank.Hans
September 10, 200322 yr He's right. The FMA for heading mode should be blank after TOGA. A heading mode is selected at 400' agl, at least thats the way I've been doing it for the last three years in the real -700. John Floyd
September 10, 200322 yr I believe Anthony already explained this in a reply to me quite some time back.Heading Hold is a Boeing option that is not implemented in the PMDG 737 in this version. Because CWS is not implemented and Heading Hold is not implemented, there really is no other mode for the autopilot to default to if you turn it on.As most of us are used to being able to click the Heading dial to change modes (a Boeing option) which is pretty standard in the 747/757/767/777, it gets confusing when it's not there. When asking pilot friends for what they do, you need to be clear in stating what options are installed in the aircraft they are flying and how they differ from what options are in the base PMDG aircraft as obviously these can dramatically change the answer to the question.Ray
September 10, 200322 yr Author Ray,excuse me if I seem a little confused :( so is this supposed to happen? Will HDG SEL not work without the FMC being programed? after TOGA is pressed?regards,Travis
September 10, 200322 yr It's simple, engage a AUTOPILOT. If you engage a autopilot in TO mode it will go LVL CH for pitch and MCP SPD and A/T showing N1. HDG SEL will be active too. There are MANY options for the NG, you will see all kinds of stuff that differs for most systems. I have AOMs and CBTs but the AOM is where it shows all the options...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. (Forum rules require a signature, thanks ;-)). According to our Maintenance Manual, we have BOTH options (on different 737's of course).Cheers.Ian.
