September 28, 200322 yr Hello Everyone Taking the hard turn to solve diff. probs with this new bird, and now being very happy about it, i still have some questions i'm sure somebody already has a solution to. 1: I miss the nice crew announcements from my favor 737 DF it make mee much more comfy when flying :-jumpy 2: How can i get the GPS from FS9 to work in PMDG737. You really need a GPS on a modern airliner, so is it possible. :-jumpy Has anuone discovered problems, when parked at a gate with P-Brake on, and plane still cont. to moove forward slowly. I has nothing to do with my joystick, but it's VERY Strange :-8 Further,I must say, that the FMC in Dreamfleets 737 was much better programming, because you could use frequency (displayed for all nav.aids in database), and not as today with PMDG, where you have to know the coordinates of the nav.aids (not very easy). I see many Pilots not understanding, that this is one of the main reasons why they have fuel warnings from FMC, because they simply entered the wrong nav.aid in the route. :-jumpy All replies are much appreciated, but pls dont ask mee to look after solution in Forum,..I have already be throug more than 130 pages in quest for glory :-jumpy Safe Landings/JP.

September 29, 200322 yr "You really need a GPS on a modern airliner, so is it possible."The FMC is a "GPS", JP. Why add another one?"Has anyone discovered problems, when parked at a gate with P-Brake on, and plane still cont. to move forward slowly."Are the engines above idle? The only way to stop a Boeing moving forward at high thrust settings is to chock the wheels (and sometimes even that doesn't work).Hope this helps.Cheers.Ian.
September 29, 200322 yr Hi Ian,here's something I was wondering about for a while, but I never found an answer..How is the FMC database updated on the real thing? Also, would the data be installed selectively? For example, I would think that Qantas' 737 pilots won't have much use for navigation data for Europe, Africa etc... :).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
September 29, 200322 yr Hello TimothyThanks for you quick Reply :-wave I suddenly Found It !I agree that you doo not need the GPS having FMC, but the situation awareness is much better on the GPS display, thats why i would like to use it, after an Online zero sight landing in Torino with a 50dgrs interseption angle. I Know that Real Pilots like You, have a fantastic MAP displayed on the EHSI, others, flying the old tins, have an old style GPS taped to the yoke. Thanks again Timothy, and safe landings to You !
September 29, 200322 yr Hej AnthonyThanks for Kind Reply :-rollHave i misssed the Train, ore, is SU2 not available yet ?Safe Landings /JP.
September 29, 200322 yr Hi IanMany Thanks for Your Kind HelpYou are absolutely Right, FMC Covers it all, but i think the Garmin FS9 GPS display is much better(allthoug it should be incoorporated in the FMC) Reg. P-Brake, this is REALY a Ghost problem, because i have never experienced such behavour before. Nothing helps, not even reversing. I dont think it has anything to do with engines, and i realy dont know how to stop it.(throttle is ofcourse set to idle)All the Best IanJP.
September 29, 200322 yr "How is the FMC database updated on the real thing?"I can't say I've updated the 737NG database, before, Gosta, but....There is probably a floppy disk drive somewhere in the cockpit where you insert regular floppy disks which contain the Navigation Database (current cycle and new cycle). The onboard floppy disk drive is generally known as the Airborne Data Loader (or ADL). On other aircraft, you may need a portable dataloader which you plug into the cockpit somewhere. Both types can be used to load software into other airplane systems also. Our 747-400's use an onboard dataloader, our 767's use a portable dataloader."Also, would the data be installed selectively?"Definitely. There are lots of places/procedures missing from our databases. It's probably cheaper that way (and quicker to load). However, it's really amazing how much data they do actually squeeze into a floppy disk or two.In some cases, we have unique waypoints and procedures (as well as our own Company Routes). For example, we needed special waypoints for our Antarctic charter flights. In case you were wondering... the datbase is in some kind of binary code and I have no idea how to convert this into PMDG format ;-)Cheers.Ian.
September 29, 200322 yr Hi Ian,very interesting. Thanks for the info.>In case you were wondering... the datbase is in some kind of binary code and I have no idea how to convert this into PMDG format ;-):).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
October 1, 200322 yr The 'FMC' databases are updated on regular intervals by the Avionics techs during normal maintenance cycles. The RS232 interface on the Boeings is usually in the front wheel well. Some are on the breaker panels. Depends on manufacturer. (Having it in the wheel well makes it nice for the tech, reach up, plug in and away ya go, don't have to climb the 60 feet to the flight deck)....Michael
October 1, 200322 yr Michael,Oh, and I always thought they had a floppy disk station in the nose wheel well! ;-)Regards, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
October 2, 200322 yr Any solution on the parking brake thing ? I saw the same thing, in the gate, thrust at idle, after some minutes it crashes in the building...so slow forward movement even with p.brakes ON.
October 2, 200322 yr Hi, I had the same problem with Captain Sim's 727 but only in FS2004 and not in FS2002. I recalibrated, probably the first time in FS2004, the CH USB yoke and the problem went away. Maybe this may help you?Regards
