PMDG Panel Merge

Featured Replies

Hello all - This is a question directed at the gurus out here other than the PMDG folks, who I am sure cannot actually "support" me with this question. :) I am attempting to merge the 737NG panel with various 3rd party models, and running into problems. I have hit the center tank dry flameout problem (even though the wing tanks indicate lots of fuel on board), but I don't think there is much to fix there.I also have an issue whereby I copied the .AIR file and portions of the aircraft.cfg file to a 3rd party model's directory, and edited the aircraft.cfg accordingly. This is being done to use the superb flight charasteristics of the PMDG airplane, but with the visual model of another older 737. I performed various edits to the PMDG aircraft.cfg file, including - Edited the model file pointers. - Replaced the contact points with the model's contact points. - Replaced the lights locations with the model's lights locations....but I am getting a "bouncing" airplane. When loaded into the sim, the panel looks OK, but the model is doing a hot-feet dance all over the runway. I originally thought it was a contact points problem, but I have reviewed the config file and confirmed that I am using the model's contact points in the config.Does anyone have a good idea as to how I can prevent the model from jumping like crazy, or is it simply not worth the time. BTW, I am doing that to fly US Airways based liveries, who currently don't fly NG B737's. Thanks for any pointers,-Greg

Hi Greg, have a look at the weight and balance section in the aircraft.cfg of the model you want to use and compare it to the PMDG one, especially the reference datum position. If those are different, you'll have to adjust the contact points accordingly. Also, try using PMDG's scrape points, rather than the third-party ones.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

I am attempting to maintain the PMDG config as much as possible while only customizing the file with what is required to make it work with a 3rd party model.I will attempt to adjust the contact points again, perhaps maintaining the PMDG contact and scrapes and just pointing at the other model to see what happens. FWIW, I am trying to get the FFX 737-400 model to work, as it is apparently based upon some older flight dynamics which are, how shall I say it... "lacking". If anyone feels the urge to do up a US Airways (new colors) livery for either the -600 or -700, I'd be MORE than happy!! (hehe)-Greg

Greg,Pete has the US Air O/C and N/C already done on the 700 model, they should be released with or soon after the SU2 patch has.Regards,Bob JonesPrecision Manuals Development [email protected]

Niiice - I'll be looking forward to it! Of course, that brings the questions as to the status of SU2, but I wouldn't be so foolish to ask. :) Thanks for the heads-up!-Greg
