October 31, 200322 yr Had a quick search for this - didn't find anything relevent..This has happened twice over the last couple of days:Airborne from EGLL yesterday testing out new FSNAV-PMDG dll for the FMC suddenly one of the engines just stopped! Had to restart via the overhead panel (FLT?). Then again tonight after departure from Rio 5 minutes into the flight BOTH engines stopped for no apparent reason. Plenty of fuel in the tanks during both instances - no clues in the FMC or WARNING panel as to what had happened. Is this a known issue? Or am I missing something here!Any info or advice would be most appreciatedRegardsAdam Moore
October 31, 200322 yr Hi Adam>Had a quick search for this - didn't find anything relevent..That must have been a very quick one because this issue has been raised an uncountable number of times. ;-)Do you get the flame out when center tank runs emtpy? If so this is a known bug and it will be corrected in SU2.If not, try to get some screen shots and some additional information and we'll go from there. But first. Do a more thourough search... ;-)Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
October 31, 200322 yr Author Had a search for "engine failure 737NG" and found one semi-relevent entry about running the engines on CONT?The centre tank had approx 2000kg of fuel on take-off. Is this enough?Apologies if my search wasn't comprehensive enough. Am at work trying to run a radio station AND fly your aircraft at the same time (think it's called "multi-tasking";-)I'll have a more thorough look around this forum when time permits.Adam Moore
October 31, 200322 yr LOL :-)So that's what you guys do as we can't see you, just hear you! ;-)Anyway, don't use "737NG" when searching. Most rescent posts is about the NG anyway. ;-)Well, I would like to know if you had fuel left in the center tank when the engine flamed out. There is a problem with engines dying when center tank runs empty so that's why I ask. So do you recall if it was running empty?BTW. Load fuel in main wing tanks before filling center tank. And burn center fuel first, then main fuel.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
November 1, 200322 yr Adam,As the guys have said, this subject has been hashed over and over in this forum, but that may not satisfy you in your search. Let me again go over what everyone is telling you.First, there is a known bug in the PMDG737NG logic that causes the engine to fail when the CENTER WING tanks go dry (empty).Second, The correct procedure now and after the SU2 patch. Load the main wing tanks FIRST. All Boeing planes must have the fuel loaded into the wing tanks first to 100% prior to any fuel being placed into the CENTER WING tank. Belive me this is the correct real world procedure. I have both UAL pilots and mechanics in my neighborhood and they can't understand anyone that does not know this if they are serious about using the 737.Third, the workaround for the current bug is to load fuel as stated in my point two, then ASAP calculate when the center wing tank will get to within 1000 pounds of fuel and then monitor that time and turn it (center wing tank pumps) OFF at that point. This will prevent pump overheats, which is a real world procedure.Hope this helps you until the release of SU2CheersBob Johnson

November 1, 200322 yr Author Hello againIn the "real world" I have only ever had to deal with two fuel tanks - one in each wing - so this is a new experience to me. I "flew" a test flight from Bournmouth to Gatwick last night making sure the centre fuel tank had at least 3000kg of fuel and both engines stayed lit for the duration. The aircaft did not seem to want to follow the altitude instructions in the FMC but this may be down to the fact that I had exported the flightplan from FsNav and converted to .rte before loading into the FMC (using Aaron Huber's new .dll). I will manually enter the route into the FMC later and see if it behaves itself. Thanks for repeating what has already been said regarding the centre tank fuel issue. I have been loading fuel into the wings first then into the centre so didn't (at the time)think it was the same problem as mentioned elsewhere.RegardsAdam Moore
