November 27, 200322 yr Hi,I am thinking about purchasing the PMDG 737 but after having been burnt by another "well known" developer I am curious as to other peoples opinions of this product. So far my scan of the support forum is promising but I would like to ask the average user a few questions if I may.1. Does the product work properly in FS9?2. Is support responsive? (It looks like it but I need to know)3. Are new features added within the lifespan of the product?I notice from your website that stage II and III are planned. What sort of pricing would be envisaged to move to these stages when they are available?thanks--qnh Scott
November 27, 200322 yr I purchased the 737NG last August.. and iam still loving every minute of it..The new service update should be out any time in the near future.I would buy it again if I had to do it over, there are some minor problems with the FMC and autopilot functions, but they should be fixed with the next update.Hope it helped..
November 27, 200322 yr The support is fantastic and the plane is even better! Purchased it the day (minute) it came out and have been enjoying it ever since. The PMDG guys have been around a long time and are really a class act. The upcoming Service Update will add even more capabilities to the NG. You will not find a better commercial airline add-on anywhere,,period!
November 27, 200322 yr Having been burned by the same "well known" developer, as well as by another "less known" one, I know exactly where you come from...To date, there is no boing/bus addon which even comes close to this one. neither in terms of stability, fluidiy, performance, support (actually, come to think of it - every single parameter! price maybe being an exception).I'm not quick to reccomend as expectations may differ. but this time, it's a definite YES! go for it, I don't think you'll regret.//Mike
November 27, 200322 yr @qnh,you should also think about if your hardware specification will meet the hardware the PMDG 737 needs. You will need a fast cpu, a really fast graphic card and also alot of memory since the PMDG is a memory hog. I own the 737 since the day of the release and have finished not more than 10 flights with this AC because of this enormous hardware requirements. Sure it is a nice AC very detailed and realistic and the support is also very good.I
November 27, 200322 yr Ad 1) Yes, it works perfectly in FS9Ad 2) Support is realy great. It takes no longer than one day until my question is answered by support guys by e-mail.Ad 3) Yes. As you can see, there were 2 updates already 1 and 1-1 and now we are all looking forward to SU2.
November 27, 200322 yr I have to echo Ron's statements.List your hardware rig here first so we can give you an idea of what you are in for *before* you become unhappy.Yes, PMDG works in FS9, Yes, the NG is quite nice, Yes, PMDG does excellent after sales support BUT if you do not have a machine that can handle the addon it really doesn't matter what the answer to these questions are. Also be aware that the expectation is that you will invest the effort to learn the systems of the real 737 NG. There is no middle ground here, this really is a flight simulator, not a car racing game. It does not reward people for errors, it terminates them into the ground usually. ;)This is for people who (a) have the hardware and (:( want the real thing. If you are not part of the (a) + (:( school of thought, you will probably be better off sticking to other addons. (not that I want to turn people away from PMDG, but they really don't need the bad press from people who complain after finding out that (a)+(:( are required.)Be aware that certain other addons may be required for certain features (and they may cost you money too). This is out of PMDG's control.Ray
November 27, 200322 yr Ray, here's another potential PDGM 737NG buyer and am curious about the PC I need to have to better enjoy this AC. Can you mention what system can go well with it?I have:Athlon 2000 mhz512 ramAbit siluro T400 GEforce 2 but going for a FX5600Can you tell me more?
November 27, 200322 yr Commercial Member I just want to add my comments to question number two:The PMDG-support and the staff is one of the best around in the flightsim community, and certainly the most honest I've ever seen from any commercial developer.Oh and yes the product is great, can't wait for all the new stuff coming!Regards,Proud fan of PMDG Jet-Prezels :)Markus Markus Burkhard

November 27, 200322 yr Micheal,Best thing you can do is set the frame rate limiter OFF (slide it all the way to the right in video options). This will give you an accurate feel for how FS is running on your machine now. Too many people adjust things with the limiter set and have completely false expectations of what FS is running like only to see PMDG come along and kill them.Once you have that, based on the ram/cpu overhead, expect a 25% drop in frame rates. Turn on some other features in FS until you get that 25% drop in frame rates and see if you are still happy.Thats about what you'll see with PMDG.Replacing you video card will help, but it alone will not give you a "bombs gone" leap because at the very same time you upgrade your video, you are going to want to drag those sliders to the right to see the new stuff that your new card lets you see. The end result of this "slider effect" is that the new card will perform exactly the same as your old card, but will look nicer. ;(If you want the 737 NG as a systems simulator, whats outside the window doesn't really matter to you so you can pull them evil little sliders to the left and make do with a lot less eye candy. It is all a question of where your tastes are at.Ray
November 27, 200322 yr Your decision to purchase this "bird" is probably the best you have made since fs exists and we use it!!!I dream of this aircraft when I can't be playing it....Remarkable how the PMDG team did such a great model without any SDK from MS for fs9, particulalrly if one takes into account the many modification introduced, for instance, in the FM "department" by the MS FS Team!!!
November 28, 200322 yr Author Oh well, based on the feedback I have purchased the 737 and............yeah yeah - just flew a circuit without reading the manual and got the markers and the centreline first time :)Now I suppose I'd better consult the manual.Time for flying - I've had enough troubleshooting for others!ScottYBTL Scott
