November 27, 200322 yr I have some questions both for the PMDG, but also for fs9.1. Does it matter if I leave the anti-ice off?2. How can I prevent the plane from moving forward, even with the brakes set?3. Does the winglet version of the plane consume less fuel as in real life?
November 28, 200322 yr Hi (Please sign all your posts, it's a forum rule)1. If you don't want to end up as an ice block falling from the sky you probably should ;-)I think it hase no impact if you turm it on or leave it of in FS2004. Although, if you want to simulate the real life conditions you should turn it on if ice could occur.2. When you set the parking brakes and the throttles are idle the plane is certainly not moving! Even if you set full throttle with the PB's on it's still moving only very slow. Are you sure you've set the parking brakes?3. I'm not totally sure but I think that the winglets don't have any influence of the flight behaviour. They are only a visual improvement. If you have a fuel problem: there is still a bug in SU 1-1 and will be fixed with SU 2 which is about to be released very soon (hopefully ;-))Hope that helps...Martin
November 28, 200322 yr 2] The plane will creep if you are using a joystick that needs calibration, I know this all to well ;) 3] YES! The winglets are better in many ways, I do not think it's possible right now to have two separte models for preformance etc but have thought about this myself, it would be a completely different model.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. November 28, 200322 yr Thanks for the answers...I know I sometimes forget to sign my name, but I think we'll all survive if I forget once in awhile. ;)Randy - did you solve your problem with the creeping? I read somewhere that you can adjust the "toebrake" setting in the aircraft.cfg file? As far as I know the main difference is fuel consumption, where the winglets will make the plane consume 7-8% less fuel, because of the decrease in wing vortices size. Maybe we'll see this implemented into the new 800/900?? ;)Martin - the plane will move as Randy also said, and I was wondering if there was a way to solve this...and yes I'm sure I've set the parking brake, kinda hard to miss the big red sign at the bottom of the screen saying "parking brakes set".About the anti-ice...Randy can you confirm that the anti-ice doesn't matter in fs9?Mikkel...see, I needed to edit this post because I forgot to sign my name...man I'm dumb. :)
November 28, 200322 yr You can go into your User menuand the option of signature you can always put your name... Then you wouldn't Forget!
November 28, 200322 yr It's more than fuel difference, remember that the reason the fuel is less because of the increase in performance overall. Airlines don't just retrofit if it does not save them $$$ ;). Tell you the truth, I am ignorant about the anti-ice for FS9, maybe someone else will know....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. November 28, 200322 yr What exactly do you mean with anti-ice or what should happen if do not turn them on?As far as I know iceing is a feature of 2004. Try using a default FS2004 plane, create a winter scenario and leave the pitot heat off. It will freeze and your ASI will show zero. The same with add-on planes. But I don't know in how far the wing and engine anti-ice thing is modeled.Henni
November 28, 200322 yr Yea I also see the ASI showing zero when pitot heat is off, but I don't notice any difference with engine and/or wing anti-ice. How could I test this?
