January 3, 200422 yr Curious, what determines whether or not I use flap 30 or 40 on takeoff and how do I decide what autobreak setting to use??Brad Zimmer
January 3, 200422 yr 1] Most airlines use flaps 30, others use flaps 40. It's an SOP thing mostly (Standard Operation Procedures). 2] It is ALWAYS set to RTO (Rejected Takeoff), no one ever uses 1,2,3, etc for this...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. January 3, 200422 yr Flaps 30 or 40 on take off - I've never used anything greater than flaps 10. Does the original poster mean landing particularly in view of his secondary question regarding autobrake requirements?Andy B Andy Brockbank
January 3, 200422 yr Commercial Member Andy-Oh! Good CRM, Andy! I read the question and missed the "takeoff" part too- and assumed landing...Yeah- I think he meant landing....Sheesh..a flaps 30 takeoff.... yikes! :-lol Robert S. January 3, 200422 yr Hehehe, YES I thought he meant LANDING ugh. For takeoff Flaps 1 is pretty standard as well as flaps 5 in the USA. You want to use more flaps depending on the runway conditions, runway length etc. Most runways flaps 1 will do just fine but at places like KSNA a flaps 5 TO is required for a Noise abatement TO.. January 4, 200422 yr I actually did mean landing, not take off. I never knew what to put (30 or 40) on landing or the Autobrakes for landing.
January 4, 200422 yr Just use Flaps 30. Autobraking is your choice, if the runways is LONG use 1 or 2, if short crank it up more. 2-3 are I assume used most often...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/betaimg.jpg Randy J Smith
