March 18, 200422 yr As I appreciate and respect the views of pmdg flyers, which weather addon is the best? I look forward to reading your opinionsrob
March 18, 200422 yr I am partial to FSMETAR http://personal.telefonica.terra.es/web/fsmetar/ it is free and it is an excellent little utility. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
March 18, 200422 yr Hi Robert, I fly the 737 almost always with AS2004. When it first came out, it was very bug ridden, but, Damian listens and now it works smooth. It even comes with a working weather radar! I haven't tried any of the freeware programs, but I would suspect that the winds aloft data could cause you grief. But hey, for free, you could always give it a go.ChuckCYXU
March 18, 200422 yr AS2004 is my favorite. Granted I have never tried FSMetro, but after AS2004 I don't need to :)
March 18, 200422 yr Hi,I'm using FSMETEO for a long time and was very satisfied until the well known "sudden wind change problem" in fs9. I tried AS2004 but had to learn that AS2004 isn't able to handle it better than FSMETEO (as promised). So I would recommend FSMETEO.Tom.
March 18, 200422 yr >AS2004 is my favorite. Granted I have never tried FSMetro,>but after AS2004 I don't need to :)I've bought and used both.Right now, I'd say AS2004 has the edge, as the latest update allows you to tell the program your route in advance and it smooths out the winds aloft. That said, I'd expect FSMeteo to work out a similar smoothing algorithm soon.I haven't used the AS2004 radar, as it's taxing on the system and I haven't found that FS9 embeds thunderstorms (yet). My recommendation for now would be AS2004 - in 90 days it might change.
March 18, 200422 yr Hi!I've used FSMeteo, but was annoyed by the sudden wind changes. I've changed to ActiveSky 2004 recently and I have to say that the route-based wind-smoothing works very fine for me.AS has one further advantage over FSMeteo:there is a forum here on AVSIM that provides support (both from the developers and from other users). That is something that I miss from FSMeteo. You can send an email to the developers for sure, but it's better to have a forum where you can discuss with other users and watch the development process. It is a more "open" support than the one FSMeteo offers.kr,Joerg
