April 9, 200422 yr Oh yeah that is right RayAs a matter of fact Bulfer continues the discussion about DEScents with a whole page describing "TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION TO BARO ALTIMETER" partly written by Jim Gregory (Transport Canada) and George Dewar (Nav Canada)So his statements are a bit ambiguous..."When it's cold, look out below" Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
April 9, 200422 yr Below the airport restriction is another story Jeff. VNAV rules change. On the path above 240/10000' restriction you can reach the barber poll (- a few knots) and keep VNAV fine, below the restriction and over 15 knots VNAV goes to LVL CH or CWS P. And this is exactly like the real bird in all respects ;-)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpg Randy J Smith
April 9, 200422 yr Sounds good Randy, and I now have a solid understanding of the first part of my question. But what about the situation of using speed intervention in a VNAV PTH descent above 10,000. If I push the button to open the speed window while still in VNAV and increase speed, will the throttles advance to compensate? Thanks!
April 9, 200422 yr Simple, it will pitch in VNAV SPD on a VNAV PTH descent so be watchfull. It will not keep the path but the speed. SPD INTV is a better CRZ, CLB tool than a DEScent tool and certainly when you are path conscious stay out of PATH. One should not even use a PTH descent if you expect some ATC interference...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpg Randy J Smith
