A little panel modification I am working on...

Well, you got me there, mate! But, I do know how PMDG, at least at the top, operates. You know dang well you mash out what you don't like. Dear Wilson-your post is proof that we don't "mash out what we don't like". (Your *repeated* posts, I should say). We only delete what is inappropriate content for a public forum, where we should remember some basic rules (like "respect for my peers" and "courtesy") are always applicable. We have always opted for an open forum style. There are simply some manners and language that will never be tolerated. You can say ANYTHING you like, as long as you remember that.I personally might not like what you say, I might find you incorrect, factually wrong etc. but I always respect your right to express yourself, while you're within the bounds of our forum policy.

Mash out as in "never address", not as in deleting post. I was asked by the author of the software I am disucussing not to talk about it on your forums because it is a heck of a sore spot for you. Your software has a problem, you won't address it because you have better things to do.I think no one has come out with a better 737 simulation than PMDG. I think that anything you guys put your mind to will be a great product, but some of your practices are just that "practice." Oh well, you can't be perfect because I have already proved nobody can do that with my own life. I have said enough...I don't need to drag this out any further.Wilson HinesUAL006VHQCCSenior Vice President, Corporate Communicationshttp://virtual.united.com --------------------------------------Proficiencies: PSS 747,777, A32x, CS 727,PMDG 737-700---------------------------------------FS2002|ActiveSky|FSRealTime|FSBuild2|FSNav|Jep SimCharts2|ACLoaderhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpghttp://heavylhc.com/images/av/anna.jpg

Your software has a problem, you won't address>it because you have better things to do.I am thankful that our customers know better than to accept such "anonymous" accusations that only serve to prove my point. We are open to any and all suggestions that our customers give us. However, eventually, we need to make decisions about what to implement and what not to implement. Those decisions are always based on hard facts, not on what "some software author" requested of us - believe me, there are tens, if not hundreds, of software authors who request this or that, and most of the time, we accomodate. I have NO idea who you are talking about, but this way, I will never know, will I?>I think no one has come out with a better 737 simulation than>PMDG. Perhaps, you might find that we always carry an inquisitive ear. There's a chance that we might not accomodate your "friends'" demands, but then again, you never know... (we might have even put ointment on any of our "sore spots"... you know???)All I ask (no, all I *demand* inside our forum) is that we, as PMDG developers, are treated with the respect required of any human being. When you write with the tone you use, it hardly merits a response based on the facts, it borders on being ignored due to "trolling". Change that tone and you'll notice we're eager to please.

It does, doesn't it? I mean, it's all a great PMDG conspiracy to silently remove the graphics from this post, but nothing else, so that Daniel looks bad and PMDG looks good...I KNEW IT. Lefteris, I hate you!! :-lolGuys:No updates since I haven't started messing with the gauge files yet (kind of afraid to screw something up). I WILL, however, respect PMDG's decision not to allow distribution. I hope you understand their reasons. I have been busy lately, so sorry for the late reply to this.Daniel P.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgThe official psychotic AA painter. :)

I WILL, however, respect PMDG's decision not to allow distribution. That's a shame. Does this mean for the panel graphics also?___________________________Best Regards,Bodo M

Bodo:Well, here's the thing. I COULD modify the BMP, even redo it... But the gauges determine the color of certain parts of the panel. So in order to make it work, I'd need to open up the gauges and modify the bitmaps. This I could do easily, but I that's why I can't distribute it. I'll see if I can work out a way to make the mod available with PMDG (maybe through their site, or with an exe that requires the original package installed, I don't know...), and if that gets results, I'll resume work on it.Daniel P.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgThe official psychotic AA painter. :)

You could just get PMDG's permission to edit the panel, and when you're done send the panel to them--let them package and distribute it?

Sounds good. :-)___________________________Best Regards,Bodo M

This is much more involved than some people think. Do you know how many bitmaps there are for the MCP alone? Each knob, switch etc has day and night versions and some like the heading knob have at least six bitmaps for each set. Imagine the whole panel. Now imagine doing the zoomed panel, landing panel and approach panels all matching perfectly. Who would test it? Who will get credit for it? PMDG taking someone's work and making it into their final product is wishful at best. Now that being said, if the mod was complete and PMDG allowed regisered users to access the download it would be great. Maybe like PSS did but I do not recall any mod to this extent. But knowing the problem with copyrights I don't see this getting very far. Daniel did a great job on this though. I commend his intentions and honesty and most of all respecting the developer's rights in this matter... Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
