Goodbye framerates, will we ever meet again?

Featured Replies

After installing the 8900 my framerates dropped to the floor, the planes are almost unflyable on the approaches as the frames drop parralel to the altimeter. I was just wondering as you said earlier that the new 8900 would improve framerates, are there enyone else experiencing this? Framerates have never been an issue for me before.BestsKevin

Kevin, your systems specs?

Mate I'm with you on this one. I don't have the greatest system in the world but the 800 just killed something with regards to frame rate big time. At the moment its money down the tube but I will have to wait and see if anything happens from the developers. The old version of the 700 has been reinstalled and still going great. The thing I don't get and somebody might like to add the reason here is I thought it was supposed to improve frame rate??????????????????My sys isamd athlon xp 2700+512mb ddrati 9600 pro 128mb120g hdregards Robert

Well, on my system I can only say FPS improved, and it was in both 2D panel and 3D cockpit. Both are working very fast now.So I don't really get how come on XP 2700+ FPS go down, since it's not so much slower than my own system.

My sys specs are the same as Robert but i have 2GB ram underway to be installed so i hope that will help!

Did you ever tried playing with some settings in the fs9.cfg? Terrain settings and Display settings? Maybe try other options or even recreate fs9.cfg.

You guy's Gauge Refresh settings are too high... Go into the PMDG config menu within FS. You'll find a setting for gauge refresh rates. Lower the settings for the 2D and 3D panels and you should see improvement in framerates. DON'T CHANGE YOUR TERRAIN AND SCENERY SETTINGS, THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM HERE. AS LONG AS YOU GET GREAT PERFORMANCE OTEHRWISE CHANGES TO YOUR FS DEFAULT SETTINGS IS NOT NEEDED...I personally don't believe in changing default settings for one add-on. In the case of the PMDG 737, that's not the problem here...

I have Gauges on maxium in 2D and 5fps in 3D cockpit. Still fast everything :)

High gauge refresh settings in 3D was the problem for me as well. These guys could possibly solve there problems by only lowering their 3D gauge settings, every machine is different though...

Thanks guys! i`ll give it a try! My god you have to love this forum, instant help seems to be the theme here! :-beerchug BestsKevin

Kevin, I dont think its the new 800/900 but your system. Before I had my AMD Athlon Xp 3200, I had a 2200 and I had fair performance (good enough to be happy). For one thing, try making it clear weather and see if it helps. Also try to tweak the performance on your graphics card in the BIOS if you can (such as changing it to AGP 8x, bumping up the aperture size, etc.). You should also check your CPU temperatures (if possible) because often overheating CPU's can cause the sytem to slow down or shutdown. If your motherboard can't read the CPU temps, follow this guestimated chart by touching your CPU's heatsink (metal looking thing with fins inside) as close as you can to the CPU:40 deg C - Pleasantly cool50 deg C - Hot60 deg C - Hot to touch70 deg C - Painful to touchYour CPU should be "Hot" or no more than 50 deg C at full load (video rindering like FS). Anything higher could be trouble. I would also like to recommend you download SiSoft Sandra which is a program that will evaluate your PC and give you performance tips.http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=177Nick B.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.25 Ghz (405 mhz FSB)Soyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2

Robert, I have nearly the same components as you do (xp 2700+, Radeon 9600 pro, 512mb ddr). It's strange that on some flights it's smooth as silk, and on others it stutters endlessly, so this proves that it CAN be done.I have my sim set up asScenery: normal/normalWeather: 100mi, hi or med clouds coverage (don't remember), 20%, 60mi draw

Kevin, let us know your results...

My frame rates with everything maxed out is 20-25 unless at very busy airports in which frames drop to 15 before rising again to 23 thereabouts. Running the 737ng and 800-900 series aircraft. Specs below....Iain

Sorry, no improvement, it must be the panel itself. I tried setting the LCD framerate tuning to the lowest but the improvement were insignificant. I will however get my new RAM kit tomorrow increasing the memory from 512mb to 2GIG so i hope that will make a change. i`ll get back to the case when i get installed!kev
