May 4, 200422 yr I don't know how more RAM is going to help framerates but good luck... :-roll Maybe you should call FS-GS before you spend too much money. You can find out more about them by doing a search in the Avsim General Forums area. I must admit I've been a little skeptical but looking at what's going on with you here, you really have nothing to loose but more money... None of us what to see that happen... May 4, 200422 yr OK! The LCD framerate tuning worked for me. I lowered both the 2D (I prefer to use this panel) and 3D down to the minimum refresh and my framerates are now hovering around my limit of 20fps (avg. 18-19-20). I was getting a yo yo effect before of around 12-15 or 16fps. All this of course with no weather. Just sitting on the default active at KSEA. If I do run weather of course I expect a small decrease, but that's a normal expectation for me. I have though, in the past couple of days, due to another forum tip, had FS9 rebuild my FS9.cfg file for me (rename or delete old file first before starting FS9) and that gave me a small noticeable difference in my frame rates right off the bat (2-3 anyway). Of course I reinput as well, all the previous known FS9.cfg tweaks that I have picked up along the way in the forums. So yes, overall the new FS9.cfg file has helped my fps. I may even start doing this on regular basis just to clean things up because that FS9.cfg file can get pretty cluttered as I have noticed duplicate entries for the joystick "MAIN" & "SLEW" configuration sections. As well, there is no doubt, on my system anyway, that the LCD refresh tip has been of benefit to my PMDG 737 experience in terms of fps. May 4, 200422 yr Hi TomLetting FS build a new copy of the cfg file is the next best thing to a total re-install of FS and solves 99% of problems. This has worked for the last several iterations of FS. One tip though - don't delete the old cfg file, keep it for comparison with the new one. In the event that you do need to rebuild the cfg file you can then copy and paste all those settings you've laboriously noted in forums and entered by hand, together with other data such as yoke and pedal settings. This can save a huge amount of time getting back to where you were before the need arose to do this in the first place.Paul Croft10 miles SE of EGLL Paul Croft 15 mls north of EGKK
May 4, 200422 yr Sorry, but what is the LCD framerate tuning?? :-hmmm :(And what is a good tuning for the 2D panel? Thanks!

May 4, 200422 yr Thanks Paul. Yes, I make a note of all my changes on a notepad file. I did not delete my FS9.cfg file though. As you stated, it is a good fall back if anything goes wrong. I'm a happy camper now with even a 2-3 fps increase on my antiquated P4 2.0Ghz machine...LOL!Regards,Tom Stewart i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
May 4, 200422 yr The LCD framerate tuning is found under your menu bar within FS:PMDG---->General menu. I really don't know what the LCD refresh rate does but it makes no difference what setting it is, at least to my eyes anyway. The panel looks the same no matter what I set the refresh at. All I know is it affords me a more favourable framerate at a lower LCD refresh setting when flying the PMDG 737, on my machine anyway.
