I'm Upgrading...What kind of FPS do YOU Get?

Featured Replies

Err sorry, just reading your config in post before :)

Randy, why don't you post a screenie inside the NG, 2D panel, normal view, with lots Cb clouds outside (building storms theam will do) AND on short final landing at KORD with lots of AI. (Not paused, not slewing)I would love to see the results, I'm also about to upgrade and would like to know how your setup can handle the situation above.Thanks,Carlos.

OK, I don't use ANY traffic, because I *never* fly offline. I always fire up VATSIM and fly there, in the evening mostly, when there's ATC. If I fly in FS2004, then it's only for the purpose of testing. But the performance won't suffer much when on VATSIM, so this is pretty real...It was oscillating between 15 and 25 mostly.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/74788.jpg

Word Not Allowed,Could you throw in a bit more impressive IFR weather (thicker, heavier clouds) and repeat the test. :-shyMichael J.

Come on guys, it's not THAT bad. It's just a matter of tweaking things.I have plenty of sliders maxed or nearly there. I run at 1280x1024x32 (native for my LCD monitor), and have AA at 2x and AF at 8x. In cruise I get 25-30 (locked at 30), and during landing it never dips below 15-20. Oh.. the system specs ;)P4 1.7ASUS P4T512MB PC800ATI Radeon 9700

I seem to be fortunate with this rig. I can lock em at 60 FPS and it may drop to 38-40 with real weather etc., with extended ground textures while on approch and landing. Read in PMDG's manual that 30 FPS will show one as good performance as anything higher, seems to be so. I dont have as much experience as soom of you guys regarding FPS.I run at 1024x768 cuase I cant read the darn fonts, 17" monitor 25mm dot pitch. I suppose a 19" monitor would, at a higher resolution and finer dot/pitch give me the same readability as what I'm using.FPS is not my problem, seeing the fonts clearly, are.MSI Neo fsr2, A64-3400, 1 gig Corsair llp, 9800pro, junky 40 gig HD.WinXP. Got the 9800 pro AA + AF, trilinier on hardware not in fs9 settings.Need a better monitor, a few SATA Raptors striped (raid 0) and maybe another gig of ram, just thinking!Regards

>With my P4 at 2.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM, and a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro>128 (AGP 8x), I keep my frames locked at 24, and get it all>the time EXCEPT for 12-18 on approach and landing.>>I have 50% traffic (My Traffic 2004), and most of the sliders>fully maxed.>>I'm hoping that an upgrade to a 3.2 GHz CPU will give me 24>fps all the time.>Hi,I upgraded recently from a 2.4 to 3.06 Pentium 4 and you can notice the difference! I use a GF4 Ti4600 128 MB and 1 GB RAM. Landing at complex airports with a lot of traffic like in EKCH (swedflight) or EDDM (German Airports) with clouds gives me 10-16 FPS using the 737NG in 2D cockpit mode.Greetings Constantin

Sure, why not, here is the same KORD, with "gravy and rainy" weather setup. I just slewed up from the runway, set flaps 40, slowed down and touchdown.17fps mainly, occasional drops to 13fps, and occasionally to 22-23fps.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/74827.jpg

Get an AMD Athlon 64 3400 and you SURELY will see a difference, lol. And a note for overclockers out there:Increase the Vcore voltage higher and you will be able to overclock higher. But use with caution because increasing the Vcore with make the life of the CPU go down (if you are a constant CPU upgrader, you have nothing to worry about because I think the life expectancy of a CPU now days are 100 years from what I heard) and the temperatures will get higher so monitor them and get a new heatsink/fan if needed.Oh, and here's a screenshot of mine at 800 x 600 with 100% traffic at same airport, about the same area (the picture looks choppy because I wasn't in full screen at the time)framerate.pngNick B.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.25 Ghz (405 mhz FSB)Soyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2
