July 14, 200421 yr Hi guys,This may be: -New to everyone -Buried in an old post somewhere -Real functionality...but I personally have no idea. The key elements (to replicate) are:Battery onAPU not onYaw Damper onAft Left Fuel Pump onSuddenly the Yaw Damper switches itself off.I know it's a weird procedure to follow. I was halfway thru and got distracted by something, when I came back I was all out of sequence. Can anyone account for this seemingly odd behaviour? There is no immediately obvious reason for it to behave that way in the real world.Obviously not a 'showstopper' type of problem but interesting all the same.Cheers! Mark Adeane - NZWN
July 14, 200421 yr Hi,I noticed this too, so at least you're not alone ;-) Not sure what the cause is, personally I now wait switching the Yaw Damper ON until the engines are running and then it remains ON.
July 14, 200421 yr Hi...I noticed it some time ago, if the APU is OFF and you put the yaw damper ON, it reverts to OFF as asoon as you get the APU running...just skip the yaw damper ON at the befor start checklist and put it at the before taxi...Cheers.
July 14, 200421 yr Commercial Member Gents-The Yaw Damp switch is solenoid held to the ON position. In certain circumstances, you can have the switch ON and the YAW DAMP light illuminated, or conversely if you accidentally unpower the busses, the switch will trip to off...If you left the airplane sitting- you might be seeing an offshoot of the "Dreaded MSFS dead battery kills the airplane" problem....If that is what you are seeing- we have a fix to cure that... coming shortly...RSR Robert S. July 14, 200421 yr Looking forward to the fix Robert...as well as to some news about the progress on the 747 project...;-)
