July 17, 200421 yr I know, I know, I read all of the 'spoilers dont deploy' posts.I calibrated my joystick, in windows and via FSUIPC (v3.3).My idle position N1% is 20.3 with the joystick, the same value when I hit F1.I do the approach, instrument or visual (I prefer visual), APP ON, spoilers ARMed (green indication in main panel), ATHR ARMed, autobreak OFF 1 or 2, Vref+10 set.I disengage AP at 500' AGL and proceed visually. At 300' AGL ATHR OFF and control with the joystick.Vat(at threeshold) Vref+5, I retard the throthle to idle (joystick) hit F1 - the engines take time to spool down to idle.I tried 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times --- the spoiler DONT DEPLOY.I have my PMDG NG up to date. So, what is going on? Is this a bug?I'd appreciate some feedback!Best regards!:-wave Pedro Lima"The sky is the home of birds... we are just guests... guests of honor" Peter Besenyei"...redundancy is very important in aviation; that is why airplanes have 2 wings instead of 1!" July 17, 200421 yr Did you arm the spoilers?Pull the spoilers lever back until the green "Speed brake armed" light lights up, or press SHIFT-/ They should fire now when you retard the throttle
July 17, 200421 yr Author -->'spoilers ARMed (green indication in main panel), '<--indeed! I armed the spoilers with the mouse in throttle panel and light becomes green in the maion panel... July 17, 200421 yr Get registered FSUIPC and use it to define the "bottom" of your throttle to be somewhat above the actual lowest value, they will deploy everytime as long as you had them armed. I had that problem until I did the above.
July 17, 200421 yr Ryan's advice is really good.I think most of the time people who are having problems with auto-deployment and reverse engagement on the ground is because of the simple fact that the throttles are NOT running idle. Every analoue potentiometer has a tendancy to drift, and while it's not much, it will make all the difference if the throttle axis is calibrated to the entire scale, from full bottom to full up position. Instead, calibrating it like Ryan says, leaving a bit of artificial "null zone" in the bottom will make sure the throttles go to idle when the lever is put to idle position, thus enabling spoiler auto-deployment (and subsequent reverser engagement).Tero PPL(A)
July 17, 200421 yr Teropa,Mine is runnig idle, still having that problem. Whenever you use the mouse on the pedestal en arm it that way, no problem anymore.
July 17, 200421 yr Make sure that your throttle is at maximum idle. To do this press F1, this is Microsoft default for idle throttle. If you do not have a USB (yoke)controller, you will have a calibration problem for zero idle. I have a friend who has the same problem with his game port yoke.
July 17, 200421 yr Author Hi have FSUIPC registered.I have MS Sidewinder FF2 USB calibrated in windows XP and FSUIPC.If you read the 1st post I stated that I hit F1 everytime, seconds before touchdown. My joystick idle N1% is 20.3. The same value for F1. July 19, 200421 yr Author Sorry, I had to bump it up.Anyone with the same problem?Any solution to get the spoilers to auto deploy?:-roll Thanks Pedro Lima"The sky is the home of birds... we are just guests... guests of honor" Peter Besenyei"...redundancy is very important in aviation; that is why airplanes have 2 wings instead of 1!" July 19, 200421 yr My solution is to arm the spoilers with the mouse and then do the same with SHIFT+/.Now it works always at landing.Regards.Miquel Egea.
July 19, 200421 yr I have had very inconsistant success with the use of the spoilers, and have not been able to consistantly cause the spoilers to fail to deploy.
July 19, 200421 yr Did you arm spoilers in the 2D panel mode, then moving the spoiler arm in the throttle panel using the mouse. The green visual indicator lights. I believe the spoilers should deploy once main gear touch down.I find I have to arm auto brakes using the mouse on the 2D panel mode.Neither of the above work from the 3D panel.RegardsMal
July 19, 200421 yr Author I allways arm the spoilers with the mouse in the throttle panel. The green light in the main panel iluminates. I retard the throttle with the joystick and F1. The spoilers never auto-deploy on touchdown in my case. July 19, 200421 yr I think this is going to be a perenial "beat on the dead horse" problem. Yes, no matter what I do since I installed the 800/900, my auto-spoilers are bluntly "hosed".Yes, my throttle is calibrated (and detent marked at idle).Yes, FSUIPC reports 0 when throttle is idle (including a generous deadband).Yes, my mouse armed the spoilers.Yes, the green "armed" annunciator is lit.Yes, shift+"/" was pressed.Yes, F1 (idle) was pressed to ensure throttles at 0 (with lever at idle). No, alas, my auto-spoilers do not deploy. It is so systematic that I use the old "trust but verify approach", as in, hit "/" upon touchdown. That makes sure spoilers deploy.I also tried this with the spoiler axis mapped or unmapped, so that does not appear to be the issue. So you know, the spoiler logic internal to FS is somewhat strange as implemented, and it has been my experience that when you try to get FS do things MS never intended for you to do (as a developer), these things are bound to happen. But, as long as there's a solution, there is hope.Hang in there.
July 19, 200421 yr If I'm in 2d or vc view on touchdown then go to spot view the spoilers are deployed. But if I'm in spot view on touchdown they don't and I have to manually deploy them. 99.9999% of the time I land in 2d or vc view anyway.
