Crash Modelling......
Hi Captains! Well, a few days ago I was talking with a flying-friend about simple crashes or mishaps in MSFS/P3D. He asked me if it was possible to simulate a belly landing - we saw that video of a navajo(?) that made a touch-and-go with wheels up. I answered him dont knowing that possibility. So I searched the web and avsim foruns looking for these and Boom! - I found this interesting early topic discussing "Crash Modelling" - coincidences... I remembered years ago in FS9 to do a landing with gear up and the airplane slided down the runway. Well, a litle sunk in the runway but came to a stop. I think it was the C210 from Carenado and crash detection was off, as it shoud be allways. So I tried the same in FSX with the same model from carenado, but nop!, it touched the runway and stayed bouncing indefinitely to the air about a meter. Then I searched again and found that would be possible wih mods in the contact points, for the model to simulate a belly landing. But I loose the interest. That would be interesting if it was possible in future flight simulators platforms, to train emergency procedures for a gear up landing, for example. Would also be interesting to see some structural deformations whit sloppy or hard touch-downs, above a certain vertical speed. Beyond these simple crashes, I think it is a litle far-fetched, because we dont want to crash in our virtual or real flights. If I crash in the simulator, because I want to deal with an intended engine failure or so, and have to execute a forced landing in a field or highway... well, I pull the imagination to 'what if'.... but, that's just me... P.S.- by the way, nice videos JCOMM! Grande abraço! Best regards from portugal B)

Will the new "Queen of the Skies" arrive this month ?
Yeap, long time no seen! Mesmo com a crise ainda vou arranjando algum tempo para uns voos low n' slow ou no NGX. Já não encontro ninguem no airsim, agora que desapareceu o forum. Um grande abraço!

Will the new "Queen of the Skies" arrive this month ?
Meu caro José Monteiro, iniciaste este post precisamente 10 anos depois do lançamento do 'Queen of the Skies'! Exacto! B) translation: My dear José Monteiro, you started this post precisely 10 years after the realease of PMDG 'Queen of the Skies'! Exactly! 2 of August 2005 (and not 2006). I'm also waiting for the PMDG 74s but without much anxiety....afterall, today there are so much great stuff in the FS world to entertain us! Best wishes and great flights, either real or virtual ones.

SSD partition re-size question
Hi Captains! I take this topic opportunity to place my question. I recently bought a new machine only for FSX and with only 1x 500GB SSD drive. As Bruce said, "old habits die hard". And so I did 2 partitions. 1 for OS (130GB) and the rest for FSX. Following Pauls' guide, I'm a bit puzzled with the pagefile setting: do I manage it 3072-3072 only in drive C:\(OS) or in both C:\(OS) and D:\(FSX)? I know this is kind a silly question but I only moved to FSX now!  Thanks in advance and best regards

RAM Upgrade
Lonepilot replied to a post in a topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThank you Paul and westman for your tips. Much appreciated! Those guides are really a great support for setting FSX! it's said that "flying is easy, what is difficult is to land".... but configure a PC for FSX is a real pain in the a**!! thanks and best regards

RAM Upgrade
Lonepilot replied to a post in a topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc(I take this post to place my question) Hi Paul, I'm building a new PC and I too have this doubt about the amount of RAM. I think I read it here in the walktrough about 'setting up the PC for FSX'. The system will have dualboot, 1HD only for MSFS and a 2nd for work&multimedia (OS Win7 64). the problem is that I work with real time 3D rendering and video editing, so 16MB of RAM would of course make a diference. If someone that knows better about this 8 or 16RAM in MSFSX issue, please clarify. Thanks in advance and best regards from Portugal

"I bought iFly 737 for FS9" thread
I share all what Paul wrote.I bought the iFly, yes, and I am enjoying it a lot! I believe though, that when the NGX from PMDG come out, will be many WOW words and watery mouths. Maybe with some initial bugs, which is normal.I believe, as an FS9'r, the time of it is coming to an end in my perspective, and in my PCBFP that is running it. But at least I finish the FS9 chapter with joy! :( Best regards! B)

What do PMDG Pilots do in real life?
Well, hello my fellow colleague! :( 32 years, PPL not finished (yeap, it is very expensive to fly just 4 fun IRL :(). When I get comfortable in terms of 'time-space-money', will return to finish my last hours. :)For now I have a 'clearway' as I'm still with A/T disengaged! B) I have a dog though! hehehe Happy Flying! ;)

How to know when to start using flaps before landing
Very nice way to ask a question, Steve! :( Best regards! :(

PMDG 737 NGX: The View Forward
The PMDG NG family is from 2003/04 (guess I'm not wrong, the 800-900 a bit later) and have a great and precise VNAV performance. One of the things I miss is RTE 2 for those online flights, when you dont have sure what's the RWY in use. But still, you can reconfigure the APP in a flash and have a nice descent path.Oldie but 'greatie'! :(Best regards! :(

This one is for you PMDG
When I first glimpse Flight Unlimited (1st edition) for MS-DOS, on a PC magazine I almost freaked out!In that time I had an IBMPC 486DX4 100Mhz with 4Mb of RAM. It was 1994 and a litle PC store (where by the way I bought that PC) had the sim/game on the shelf.Every time I came from school, passed in that store just to grab the box and see the graphics in the back! Me and some other freaking kids saying 'wowww'!!!Some months later I bought the thing in Christmas. I could not sleep. When I tried the sim/game via MS-DOS I got an error. And I will never forget that error because, like Murphy's Law said, '...the only program, game, that actually interests you, will not run on your PC', and things like that! The error said: 'estouro de divisao' (translated: 'division crash', or something). I became mad and return to the store. In that store they told me that was the game because the PC was fine and they could not refund me, bla, bla, bla, etc.I wrote to portuguese game magazines, I phoned to Virgin. Nothing.A sk8 buddy of mine has a brother kind freak of PCs. But he was already mastering informatics. I came to his house because he had a similar PC like mine, only he had 8Mb of RAM. I took the sim/game. The game run just fine! I think for the 1st time I was in a strange house, playing FU, and dont give a damn that it was not my PC but the one of a guy I just met! And the guy was just freaked out! eheheheIt was a saturday. Monday at 9 a.m. I was at the store. With the sim/game in my hand. I must say that I said some nasty words to the guy at the store. But in the end they fixed my PC. Never had bought anything there ever since.I keep the box and its CD-ROM sacredly in my nostalgia shelf, along with other titles like FS5.1, FS95, etc.A bit of nostalgia is good for everyone! eheheBest regards! :(

So what is your one all-time Carenado favorite so far?
I remember when I bought the Centurion 210 for FS8. Great litle plane! So many hours I spent flying or just staring at that awesome virtual cockpit, thinking - "how is it possible?" heehehe :( One of my favorites.Would love to see a reworked rendition of the Cessna 337D/H Skymaster. The FSD one is outdated visually, but still a great add-on aircraft. And of course, some EADS Socata TBs. :( Best Regards from Portugal :(
