A chance for FS9ers

Featured Replies

I was thinking today about the big question is the NGX going to be built for FS9, I know PMDG is going to decide that at a later time, I do not use FS9 that much anymore and probably would not get it, but still I wonder. I don't think you can use polls or make comparisons with other products to gauge profitability on a new product. Unfortunately you have to make the product first and see if it sinks or swims. Though its been said that sales for PMDG fs9 products are down I think the NGX proposes a unique case. I don't want to see PMDG miss out on a gold mine or lose money. I was thinking of something and I'm not sure if PMDG would ever consider doing this as it could be an administrative burden but could also a be really great way to determine profitibility. Closer to the release of the NGX for FSX why not have an option for FS9 users to pre-order there FS9 version, understanding that if the support is not there or if PMDG deem it not a profitable, the product will not be made. The customers are then issued there money back or have the option to get the FSX version. I really think the NGX is going to be a gold mine, and could be for both platforms. And a year from now we will all be in the same boat, fs9ers on one side, fsxers on the other. If there was an option to do this you would at least see the real hard numbers, ya never know there could be 2000 fs9 pre-orders in one day :( or you might see that it is not profitable at all, in which case don't do it. Customer gets there money back or gets there fsx version. Anyways just a thought I'll be getting it for FSX, but I really think FS9 is here to stay, have you seen what REX has done to FS9 :( , looks amazing, if they would have done that a few years ago I probably would have never switched to FSX.

What a sensible suggestion. It would really allow us FS9ers to put our money where our mouths are. Personally I'm not to bothered with a 737 NG for FS9. Nothing personal and no offence intended to anyone, but I'd just rather have an A320. I do appreciate that I'm probably the only FS9er in the world who thinks this way though. As an aside, last weekend I purchased REX and the QW B757 for FS9 and will happily spend money on FS9 for products that I want. I have no intention of making any FSX only purchases.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

That's actually an interesting thought Ian... I'll bring it up with everyone.

If it is anything like the MD-11 I am in too for FS9.......must have a 2d cockpit however...not a VC user.

I would so buy a new 737NG for FS9 as it would work better with widescreen monitors (a guess on my part mind you). I can get the FMC to work, once I resize it, but it does not keep it's size so it is a repetitive task. I can live with it, but would like something a bit more "native." While I have FSX, I still mainly fly in FS9, there are too many aircraft I like flying in it and want to keep flying.Mike

I remember someone saying it was easier to make the VC than the 2d. I'll take the VC Only as I fly all my PMDG by VC. FS9 user. I'm in.Carl Perry 7 year sim pilot

Since I am sticking with Fs9 just because thats the only way I can fly, this will be how I buy the NGX or not. As much as I would like to move up to FSX it just isnt worth it for me I tried and had horrible results.Andrew DeLaney

The NGX will be the greastest addon every made to date so far for FS. I cannot see how PMDG could asses the FS9 customers base without "hard numbers." I would buy the NGX for FS9 and FSX in a second. Even if they say made the NGX for both FS9 and FSX and made user buy both verisons I would have no problem with that. This community is and always will be about supporting each other, and that method of making people buy both verisons would be no problem for me.I fly my "airliners" in FS9 because I like LFPG EGLL JFK etc with crazy amounts of traffic, WX and addons. This I could not do in FSX, not because I don'tr have the addons but because even with a core i7 and DDR3 ram it isn't enough. I would seriosuly pay $200 for the NGX if it were for both platforms. I know this would not be the case for some people, but, if PMDG could explain to the community what needs to happen to make everybody happy I cannot see why not.Regardless of if it is for FS9 or FSX PMDG will make a killing. This plane is different, and the target market if different. If you take some of the stats that have been floating around most people in this hobby are between the ages of 35-50, this means that these people have jobs, kids etc, and most of them want to fly flights that last less then 3 hours, and this plane will deliver that. I seroulsy hope that PMDG will consider the FS9 version, even though at the end of the day I highly doubt they will make an FS9 version. With addons like REX just being realesed I think it breathes new life into the good old FS9, on yop of that Aerosoft and Imagine Sim and Fly Tampa are all still making awesome places for us to fly. Night.

I would pre-order directly/ Leffe

I'll be in for it too. There is no good 737NG with a panel saving function. While Ariane's planes really are quite good, there is no way to save panel states... The 737NGv2 was announced to include one, so it's an easy choice for me. (I'll anyway get the FSX version, though, but having it for FS9 is a great bonus!)
