A chance for FS9ers

Featured Replies

I'm never going back to FS9. It feels just strange.
I have both FSX and FS9 on my machine. I've tried FSX, I even have the PMDG JS41 but I have not seen anything that would persuade me to change my main sim from FS9 to FSX. The JS41 is great but the performance on my machine is not great, especially at add-on airports of which I have some because they were free to FS9 buyers. FS9 with all the usual scenery enhancing add-ons looks so much better than FSX without them. I did get some freeware FSX ground textures which did, at least, take away that desert look but it still doesn't match FS9 for me.Iain Smith

Guys, there won't a pre-order, there is no reason to state you will want to pre-ordre when it has been made abundantly clear that it won't happen...

All right, no pre-order. But to me, to me it looks like a lot of customers are sending a message to PMDG...Bruno

True, and I wonder why all the "FSX only"- guys don't send the opposite message. People who own FSX, usually don't mind stuff being made for FS9. At least not nearly as much as FS9ers mind stuff being made for FSX only. And that's my concern. I sympathise with the "FS9 only"-crew, but I seriously doubt that you're still the majority. This and other threads like it only prove that you might be more unified and vocal. An indicator could be count the number of people who ask for FS9 products and compare it to the people who talk about and own FSX products. I think that'd be the only fair comparison. So "a lot" could be a bit of an overstatement. I've moved on to FSX and would like PMDG to carry on at full speed to keep developing new and exciting stuff for FSX. It will hurt PMDG's production speed for FSX if they constantly need to develop FS9 versions.

i to have both fsx and fs9 with lots af add-ons to both i must say i love both fsx and fs9 i have rex to fsx and gex europe and usa and of course ftx which is the best i have ever seenin hamburg x with the pmdg j4100 i have about 25-30 fps with weather and everything on so my fsx is run smootley in almoust every airport and with aircrafts. i have proberly 60 fps in fs9 all the time also with lots of add-ons and weather and so on.here is the deal clean up your system every day with advanced system carehttp://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.htmlit is a really good programi have a core i7 clocked to 3,8 ghz a welociaraptor 300 gbgtx 2806 gb ddr3 1600 mhz memory.robert randozzo this is to you!your aircrafts is the best i love pmdg no one in the world can make aircraft like pmdg, its amazing what you guys can doi am so much looking forward to the 737 ngx just lige a child for christmas.regards from a very happy pmdg customer.

There are numerous "blow your mind away" products for FSX:
Blow your frame rates away as well! And please don't come up with that old chestnut "even when the frame rate is down to 10 or 12 FSX is still smooth!" I've got FSX, I've tried it and what a load of rubbish that statement is!Iain Smith

I have both FS9 and FSX and yet, I still want a FS9 version of the NGx. I like flying both jet aircraft and GA planes yet, I still prefer flying in FS0. My FSX install is somewhat messed up and I can't even install the PMDG 747-400X I bought at Best Buy. Most of my sceneries are also of the FS9 variety and enjoy flying to those airports (I have some FSX sceneries, but a couple of them have disappearing textures at night). I also have yet to see enough freeware AI aircraft made for FSX (I like to create my own fleets) released even though I could use WOAI if I had to. Right now, FSX is bland for me without airlines populating airports. I have that with FS9.Mike S.

I might be wrong, but I last heard that PMDG was totally done developing further for FS9 as it is dead and buried. I think this would be a big mistake as many are going back to FS9 for performance reasions and PMDG dosen't seem to realize this. FS9 is still alive and well and developers should not rule out FS9. I have a brand new core duel computer that still can't run FS9 well, but FS9 works great and this is the experience of many simmers that don't have the money for high end machines. I am a long time PNDG customer and leaving ud FS9 arm chair captains would be a big mistake.Michael Pare

Much as it would be great to have this plane added to FS9, I can understand fully if it never happens. Sooner or later PMDG will have to draw a line under developing for FS9 as will all developers. Its just a matter of where and when that line will be drawn. In the world of flight sim addons no company can really afford to continue splitting their developement across two platforms. By the time the FSX version is nearing completion it will be much easier for PMDG to gauge how much developement a version for FS9 will take and that will also be the time to look at how well new FS9 addons are still selling. These are the factors that will decide whether of not NGX for FS9 sees the light of day. Personally I hope it does but I am also pretty sure that if it does, then it will be the last of the line of superior aircraft produced for FS9. Companies like PMDG have to operate on very tight profit margins and it is very important that they get their manufacturing decisions right, so I will wait and see what they decide when the time is right for them to make the decision.

Both sims are no longer produced so what would it matter wich platform they develope for?Michael pare

I will buy both the download and later on the boxed version for FS9 if it is made.FOR SERIOUS SIMMING YOU CAN NOT BEAT THE SMOOTHNESS OF FS9.I use all my PMDG products in FS2004 simply because I know it will run great.FSX is good only for low and slow so you can look at the birdies fly by . :( Please, Please, Please We need a new PMDG short haul for FS2004.You can't see me but I am on hands and knees right now :( Kind regards, Rick

I would most likely buy the FS9 version, as I love the 737NG, and the JS4100 looks like they'd be able to make the NG look amazing, even in FS9. The visuals in the JS4100 appear stunning, but I'm not switching to FSX to find out. On the other hand, part of me is getting fed up with flight sim, so I don't know if I'd commit to any future purchases for any platform. It just seems the more complex the software gets the more bugs it has and the more trouble it is. ASA doesn't work right, and for some reason now that ASA is installed, ASv6.5 doesn't work either. HiFi doesn't seem to be fixing any of those bugs now (e.g., high alt clouds, popping). All my PMDG planes have issues that crop up frequently enough that I wonder why I even bother. As much work went into the 744, yet I still have bizarre problems that I'm unable to reproduce consistently. The latest was the descent through my MCP-dialed Alt on V/S. Then the MD-11. Wonderful plane, but it has some lingering problems that apparently no one cares about (e.g., strange speed inaccuracies and jumps/overspeeds, thrust problem on takeoff, panel text typos). I guess since it was a low seller and not enough people are complaining, we are stuck with those problems. In the grand scheme of complex aircraft, PMDG is still making great add ons, but the fact that certain bugs aren't fixed or even addressed by the team is troubling. Several MD issues have been brought up in recent months, but everything is cast aside to weather add ons or simply ignored. I guess I'm just sick of FS. Too many flight are ruined by a variety of factors, and I'm not enjoying it that much now.
