July 22, 200421 yr HiI would like to ask if its normal than in flight when i open the spoilers all spoilers open up.A thought only 2 of the 4 should open.Maybe am wrong???
July 22, 200421 yr No, in flight, only 8 flight spoiler panels extend. Each wing has two ground spoilers and four flight spoilers. The ground and flight spoilers are numbered by Boeing starting from the left wing to the right wing, 1 through 12.The ground spoilers are panels 1,6,7, and 12. The flight spoilers are panels 2,3,4,5,8,9,10, and 11.When the SPEED BRAKE lever is actuated all the spoilers extend (12)when the airplane is on the ground and only the flight spoilers extend (8) when the airplane is in the air.Floyd John Floyd
July 22, 200421 yr I dont think MS supports Flight Spoilers, I think MS treats Spoilers, ground and flight as one. not sure though...
July 22, 200421 yr Well i dont remember how many spoilers opens on ground but inflight is 8!I ll check it with my next flight!
July 22, 200421 yr Guys- In fact there are only 8 "flight" spoilers and are all deployed in flight but not the ground spoilers #s 6 & 7..Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. July 23, 200421 yr Gents,The 737 is fiited with several systems for braking both in flight and on the ground. Please remember that the real aeroplane is a very complex piece of machinery and when you convert onto it, particularly if it is your first jet, you may spend up to 6 weeks just in ground school learning the systems, procedures etc.The 737 is equipped with both flight and ground spoilers. Their purpose is to provide increased drag and lift reduction. In total it has 12 panels on the upper surface of the wings with 5 on each wing outboard of the engine pylon and 1 inboard of it. The panels are numbered 1 to 12 from left to right. In flight only panels 2,3,4 and 5 deploy on the left wing and 8,9,10, and 11 on the right wing. Panels 1, 6, 7 and 12 only deploy on the ground. When used for braking all panels are directly controlled by the Speed Brake Lever however which panels are raised depends on the aircraft mode. When used as brakes all panels are raised symmetrically. The Flight Spoliers can also be raised by the roll control system and as such the Flight Spoliers on the left wing will be raised when more than 10 degrees of left roll control input is made at the yoke and vice versa for right wing. Note: they do not all come up the same amount and are controlled by the spoiler mixer. All panels are raised automatically on touchdown if the Speed Brake is armed, or should a rejected T/O be initiated (the Speed Brake is NOT armed for this)Hope this helps,
July 24, 200421 yr I did a flight yesterday and checked about the spoilers and in flight they r all deployed! And in the 2D cockpit i cant put the levers to flight position its going all the way down!Is it a bug????It just only me?
July 24, 200421 yr Hmm, as I remember from my flights, PMDG puts only flight spoilers up when airborne as it should be.
July 24, 200421 yr Maybe have to post a screenshot showing that you have every single spoiler up andnot just the 8 that are suppose to be..Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. July 25, 200421 yr Here you go.Took the bird for a test flight from KBFI and here is the result(for me seems to be the same inflight and on ground!)
July 25, 200421 yr Well I'll be a monkey's uncle! You know I checked this on mine yesterday just to be sure and I do not have the ground spoilers 6-7 like you have their in the air. I will leave this one to Mr Randazzo hehe since he knows all about the spoilers. Maybe I missed something fixed :DBest Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
