About the winglights, they are not on the wing, Isn't??You have the winglights located at the fuselage and the strobes, Position and Navigation lights on the wingtips????Thats how it is in the PMDG aircraft.

Correct. Wing lights are to light up the wing, they are not located on the wing. Strobes and navigation lights are on the wingtips. Navigation and position lights are same things.

After reading this thread I tried to play around with the lights last night and I could not see the R/W Turnoff lights when switched by them selves. On an external view when looking from overhead it apears that the taxi and R/W turn off lights are both modeled to the taxi switch. Am I correct in this? I really enjoyed this thread as it is helping me to realize the meaning of the different lights thanks,

You might want to check and see how your graphics settings are. I could be wrong, but if you don't have enough lights enabled, you might not see those turnoff lights. Frankly with all the lights on, it's like being on the receiving end of lights the way the runway gets washed out. Bob K.

Hmm as I know the PMDG 737 does not have working Turnoff lights switching - they are together with taxi switch if I remember now correctly.

George I would tend to agree with you, since when the taxi lights are on there are three beams, one in the direction of the nose gear and two on either side pointed at about 30-45 degrees to port and starboard. It would be nice if they could make them on the switch so that way they are not constantly on. Oh well, maybe for the BBJ.

Yes, one could indeed look that up and then maybe one would find THREE 737NGs taking off (or at least rolling on the active) with wing lights on on the first two pages of search results after selecting just the 6/700 and entering take off as a keyword. If one would look at more of the take off pictures on airliners.net, one would certainly find a few more. You might want to consider leaving your sarcasm at the gate before you board the forum, Randy. In this thread it appears to be quite out of place.Best RegardsMax (Bern, LSZB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg

Why are all talking about BBJ, will PMDG 100% make it at all?

PMDG has been saying for a while now that after the 744 they are going to do a BBJ/Military variant that at the very least will have a HUD. I don't know any details other than what I have read but they keep saying that it is going to happen.

Cool. But where do they say that?

Thanks EVERYONE for contributing to this discussion. It helped me finally figure out what that stupid white light is--the one on the side of the fuselage above the wing. I've always just turned on FS lights (L) and then turned off the landing lights (Ctl-L), only I've been left with that white light, day or night. So it's the wing light after all and I can easily turn it off on the overhead. (I know, I'm not starting cold & dark. There's only so much time in a day for flyin.)Now if FS would just fix the twilight panel lighting....Ed Gates

Hi,My thanks to everyone who contributed to answering my post - especially Etienne for his excellent and informative reply.Having had my question answered, I thought I would have a look at them all working on the PMDG 737 NG so I set up the aircraft at night and experimented in trying each of the switches in turn to see each light in use - and found an anomally with the Logo light, which does come on and go off with the use of the Logo switch as you would expect. However, it also comes on when many of the other lights are turned on irrespective of the position of the Logo switch.I also couldn`t see any difference when I put the Landing lights on - Taxi lights illuminate the taxiway but the Landing lights don`t seem to make any change to the amount of illumination - Strange Huh?Anyway, thanks again for your posts,RegardsBernard

Landing light illumination works just fine with me. But I have never tried just logo light alone, maybe it really turns itself on and off separately when other lights are extinguished. But doesn't it just switch the whole plane exterior model lighting on and off? I mean that maybe with logo light also the cabin goes bright?

Just a comment...Here in Brazil, some airlines do this :Landing Lights - Just prior to landing ( Turn on at 500 feet ) Turn off just cruising FL100.Turnoff Lights - Turn on prior to descent. Turn off just cruising FL100.

Well in real you can turn all the landing lights on separately. It means that sometimes you turn on only the outboard lights that are located on the wing leading edge and sometimes only the retractable lights. For example at daytime you dont need all the lights fully brighted up.
