August 28, 200421 yr I am posting once again to see if there is any fix for the following:Whenever I crash the PMDG -600 NG (which has now happened several times for reasons that are unknown to me, but seem to have something to do with going outside into SPOT view and panning around during cruise flight--beats me!), the flight does not re-set. The screen continues to display the stricken flight in its crash pose for an abnormally long 2 minutes; then the screen turns black and has only the FS9 blue strip at the top; finally, after 1 to 2 minutes of this blackness, I get a message advising me that FS9 has crashed and do I want to contact MS.Again, I have a factory standard DELL 8200 P4, 2.53 Ghz, RDRAM 1024, Ti4600 card, nVidia 56.** drivers, and dual monitors, FSUIPC 3.30, MS FFB 2 stick, GoFlight hardware, etc. I have 200+ aircraft and panels on the sim and every one works perfectly. I have been simming for 7 years and this kind of issue has never arisen with any other add-on.It is perplexing to me. I'd love to learn to master the NG but it's hard at this rate (!) And at this rate, too, unfortunately I don't see migrating to the bigger -800/-900 series. Can anybody assist with this ? Thanks!Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
August 28, 200421 yr Could be a number of reasons Jonathan. If you don't mind me asking, why don't you simply turn off crash detection to resolve your issue here? I know you desire to know why it will not reset but if you don't have a clear idea I don't think anyone else will. Each person's system is different. Mine does reset, even when I had only the 600-700 installed but it did take a while. Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution! August 28, 200421 yr Author Randy:Yeah, I AM interested to know why this is happening. It is strange and frustrating that this happens. Is my experience unusual or unknown? Has PMDG received reports from anybody else about such things happening with their -600 NG? I am also curious about that?If I turn off crash detection, does that also mean that a/c will not crash from being overstressed with G-forces as well? In other words, nothing will EVER crash for any reason in the sim?[by the way, the spinning out of control and going into a dive during cruise when in SPOT view after some period of panning around, is that also unusual or unknown, or does it have some known cause?]Thanks for your response.Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
August 28, 200421 yr Well I only know this from my personal testing. One could spend days trying to figure it out, re-installing flight simulator, the NG, WINDOWS and maybe still not figure it out. Yes it does mean that NOTHING will allow it to crash (you will still hit the ground and all). That is not a bad thing since you are not suppose to crash or overstress this thing ;-) You can always turn it back on for other aircraft. Also, you might want to shoot an email to asking them if they have had other issues with folks running the 600-700 and what FS version you currently are running..Best Wishes,
Randy J. August 28, 200421 yr Author OK, Randy, thanks again, I just wrote to PMDG.Appreciate your responsiveness and advice.Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 4, 200421 yr Hi Yeah this is happening to me as well ( i have posted a new thread sorry , i only came across this one in a search ) , if i run the sim in full screen mode then it seems ok but when it resets the panel is not visable so i have to press W to get it back , if the sim is run in windowed mode then FS will crash , i tested it again and took off from KSEA ans climbed to 1500 then just nosed dived and crashed it .... then after a while i got the send to MS error .... so you are not alone lol. November 5, 200421 yr Author Hi, Rich:Welcome to the "crashing" club ! I have no idea what's going on but I've stopped trying to figure it out. When I remember, I disable the default FS9 crash effects, but mostly I forget to do so. I also find that when I go from flying the PMDG to flying another a/c, I might get a similar type of hang and then crash within FS9.I sure hope this doesn't happen with their 747-400 when it comes out! Please post if you ever find a cure or whatever for this strange behavior. Meantime, I gotta say the bird performs wonderfully and everything works amazingly well so that is some serious compensation. Thanks and Cheers!Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 5, 200421 yr Yeah i will let you know if i find a fix ... i have uninstalled and reinstalled the 737 , uninstalled the 9.1 patch and reinstalled it etc but its still happning .... i have never really noticed this before ( might be cos i tryied not to crash it and used auto land ) and it does not happen in FS 2002 as i have it installed in both . Its still a great add on and one i use the most ( as long as i dont crash ) . Rich
November 5, 200421 yr Author Hmm, never thought of that. Might be interesting....Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 5, 200421 yr just had an email back from PMDG heres what they said ...There were some issues related to a very small number of users crahing inthe PMDG 600/700 that were not able to be addressed until the 800/900 wasreleased. The 800/900 completely updated the Gauge files that were causingthe problem on a small number of systems. If you decide to purchase andupgrade to the 800/900 package, the problem should no longer occur. Ifthats not an option then Crash inhibit may also stop the problem. im hopfully getting the 800/900 if it comes out on CD . RICH
November 5, 200421 yr Author Rich:I got the 800/900 and it didn't cure the sim crash unfortunately. I was prepared for such a possibility because I was advised ahead of the purchase that it's not necessarily guaranteed to cure it. Never mind. It works very well and I just use TCAS to avoid mid air collisions and land at no more than -200 fpm to avoid smashing the gear up!Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 29, 200421 yr Hi Have you found a fix for this yet mate ? its still bugging me , the only way to get it to reset is to run it in full screen mode then all i have to do is to press W to get the panel up , other then that i have to run with crash detect off . Rich
November 30, 200421 yr Author No, no fix found yet. Still looking, but only casually. It's a glitch in my PC working with PMDG. Sometimes there is no evident explanation for such things.Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
