September 23, 200421 yr Apart from upgrading to the 800/900 series(which I will do, but not yet!), is there any way to introduce a clock into the NG cockpit? I feel a bit lost without it.Thanks,Frank
September 23, 200421 yr Hi Frank,Check the Approach view. You will find the clock available there in the 600/700
September 23, 200421 yr Thank you, Mark!I obviously don't use the Approach view as much as I should.BR,Frank
September 23, 200421 yr By the way sirs, there is now an icon on the panel switcher that uses the unused I and changed this into a C for you can guess ;-) this of course on the 800-900 and newer version of the 600-700 with the 800-900 installed...Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. September 23, 200421 yr Speaking of which, before someone tells me to read the friendly manual, which I always do, do the docs have instructions on how to use the dang thing?
September 24, 200421 yr Thanks, Randy.I did know that(see mail above :-)), but did not know there was a chrono on the APP panel. One of the things I wanted to do was to check how accurate the FMC time prediction was. Seems very accurate, but was wondering if maybe the FMC time is actually driving the clock, because I noticed the each new minute on the clock starts at 10 secs past the 12 o'clock position, which reflects the manner in which the FMC tracks time(ie, divides minute into 6x10sec intervals)? The only reason I am hesitating about the 800/900 series is because I've read of some reports of possible problems(rumours?) with the 600/700 when the newer version is installed, at least when the 600/700 is retrofitted with updates from the 800/900 series(such as VC lighting?). Now, I'm not at all sure if there are any problems, but was planning to wait for the CD version. If you say there are no significant issues, I'll just go ahead and get it :-).BR,Frank
September 24, 200421 yr Hi Etienne,Going from memory here(at work now), but there are switches to press at each corner of the clock which do different things. For example, you can just have the time displayed in the upper portion of the clock(can be local or UTC - switch upper right, You can also display day/month with another of the switches). ET indicates elapsed time(bottom left, I think), which will give that function in lower part of the clock, below the time). There is also a Chrono/Stopwatch function available.Hope I didn't get too much wrong(just been introduced to it myself!).Will check and post back if you need any further assistance.BR,Frank
September 24, 200421 yr You won't be disappointed with 800/900. It's quite possibly the best aircraft out there.Ben Ben Hall EGSSProud supporter of Intercity Airways, visit www.ViaIntercity.com
