SIDs, again....

Featured Replies

Hello all! I'm rewriting some SIDS for Italy and got to Rome Fiumicino which is driving me crazy... The airport has 8 runways 16L/C/R, 34L/C/R, 7 and 25. Problem is the SIDS have all the same name there's ana initial part of the procedure which depends from the runway and a common part... so if I write a SID ELB5A RNW 25 i will have the same SID name later on in the file for the other runways (not all but most). My problem is that it seems that even if the FMC recognizes that there are SIDS with the same name for different runways, when i click on the LSK corresponding to the SID the FMC loads the first SID it encounters with that name in the file.... problem is it is usually for a different runway.... One solution is to use names with runway number in it (25.ELB5A) but it looks horrible... is there a way out? Thanks in advance. Bye, Luca(if anybody is interested: http://www.ellebi.org/luca/flightsim )

Luca,If the procedures all have the same name they should all be alike right? If they are then you can just use the same SID for all runways. And I think you can make transition routes from each runway to the common part of the SID.I'm sure Terry, Simon or

The idea is nice, but I can't get it to work.. I can put transitions on SIDS but only AFTER the common part. Anybody can tell me how to put the transition BEFORE the common part? Thanks, Luca

Hi LucaWell, you are almost there, I try to explain.Start the SID with the name and common part, must be at leats one waypoint. Then follows the rwy transitions, but don't write TRANSITION here, just nail down RNW XX and the waypoints, headings or whatever needed to get from that rwy to the wp in the common part. Do so for each rwy. Then at last comes the enroute transitions, if needed. Here is a fictive example:SID TEST.1A NAVAID ABC FIX DETA (This is the common part, must be at leat one wp) RNW 25R KEEP TRK UNTIL 1500 NAVAID DEF NAVAID GHI (This is the rwy transition) RNW 25L KEEP TRK INTERCEPT RADIAL 150 FROM NAVAID DEF NAVAID DEF (This is the rwy transition) TRANSITION ALPHA NAVAID JKL NAVAID MNO ( This is the enroute transition after the common part, if needed)In these SID's you always start with the common part, and then followed by the rwy transitions. Test this in you sid's and let us know how it works.

here we are with another problem... :( It works if you select the SID while at the holding point but not at the gate. LIRF has the OST VOR located in the middle of the field and some SIDs use the distance 1 form OST as a reference for beginning hte first turn. I solved the initial problem (i got to dist 1 form navaid ost 2 times along the runway) using a until radial $90
