October 19, 200421 yr JohanJust confirm you are flying the B737-600 and have TCAS? So far as I know, the PMDG B737-600/700 series does have a "simulated" TCAS to simulate actual procedures, but the TCAS does not work really, it won't show any targets on the display. That function is only available in the upgrade model, B737-800/900.Johan, sounds either dutch or afrikaans. Interested in which country you live.RegardsStephenFAJS:-)
October 19, 200421 yr Stephen,Johan is a common name in the nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland) as well as in Germany. ;-)Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
October 20, 200421 yr Hi Stephen and Johan,Once you have the 800-900 series, you can upgrade the 600-700 series so they have working TCAS. I can certainly get traffic advisories on my 700, although I haven't found myself in a position to receive RAs as yet, ie, no close calls so far! This puts me in mind of a question of my own, though! In the PMDG manual(9-18)on the operation of TCAS, there is a pic of a regular round VSI gauge with green and red bands(RA). Where is this gauge in the PMDG 737NG, please? The only VSI I can see is incorporated into the PFD! Is this TCAS functionality available? Also, does the conflict box appear on the PFD for RAs as described on the same page?Appreciate your help,Frank
October 20, 200421 yr Frank,The VSI "gauge" you see is for the EFIS/MAP setup of the panels. You probably have the PFD/ND setup with the VSI tape. See PMDG Styles Menu for these options.Yes the conflict box appears as described in the manual. October 20, 200421 yr Hi FrankThanks for the reply. Just confirm, you do get actual traffic shown on the ND? I've tried everything in the book, searched this forum, done everything, but can't get any TCAS traffic. I can see the a/c outside the cockpit window, but nothing on my ND. I have the B737-600/700, mostly fly the 700, but no TCAS whatsoever. I read in some posts that this function is only avialable in the upgrade to the 800/900 and then only will the 700 show targets. I fly in FS2002 and the 800/900 won't work there, otherwise I would upgraded long time ago. Back to the TCAS, I do not even get the test signal on the ground when testing the TCAS in my 700, so I thought it is just a "nice to have". Will this TCAS work in FS2002 and show targets, and if it will, please give me the correct sequence of procedures to follow to get it to work.ThanksStephen
October 20, 200421 yr Stephen,You are correct in your suspicions. TCAS is a part of the 800/900 package. A good reason to upgrade to FS9? ;-)Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
October 20, 200421 yr Ah, I wasn't aware you were using FS2002. I don't own it, I'm afraid, so I can't check what works there. If you can't have the 800-900 series, you can't have TCAS.With December not far away, maybe you should consider giving yourself an early Christmas present? :-)BR,Frank
October 20, 200421 yr Author Hi guys..Yes I have the 800/900 aswell and it replaced the panel and th systems on my 600/700 also...And YES i found the little bugger (TFC button) (-:And I live in SWEDEN!thanks! /Johan Windh
October 21, 200421 yr Hi Stephen,To add to Mats comments, TCAS is only supported in the 800/900 in FS9. I tested the 800/900 in the FS2K2 for a short time but was never able to get TCAS working correctly. You should give FS9.1 at try. IMHO, it is an big improvement over FS2K2. :-)Also, the following document may provide further help as well. Although it is written for on-line usage of TCAS, it should answer your question reguarding looking for an activation procedure.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/downloads/...le=419&iType=19Hope this helps, George Morris
