Climb-out angle

I don't have the PMDG add-on yet but considering its evidently closer to the real a/c then any other sim, I was just curious about the climb-out angle after take-off.According to a real 737 pilot - DF-400 booklet - after take-off the normal angle is between 15-20 degrees. Although there does seem a huge difference when comparing a 15 degree nose-up to 20. Is there any limit on what real a/c keep there climb angle to? I know so many factors come into it - weight, power setting, OAT and so on. But if the a/c was light but quite a lot of power was needed - shorter runway - would the pilot keep pulling back to hold V2+10-20 or is there a limit on the angle so it doesn't discomfort the passengers?Jonno.

There are no generalized pax comfort rules: each airline applies its own.Anywa the climb angle has nothing to do with runway lenght. It may have with obstacle avoidance (see Paro airport VQPR).

HiBoeing recommendation is to stop at 20 degrees ANU, but it's allowed to go past that though. For 757 up to 25 degrees ANU is acceptable. Above that it is both rare to be needing and not practical.Tero

Wouldn't the climb out angle be determined by the weight, power setting of the engines and pitch to maintain climb airspeed? Heavy Gross weight, less angle etc.....

Of course.I just explained about this issue thoroughly in another forum, didn't want to write self-explanatory things. Are there such things ? :)Tero

25 degress is excessive pitch, 15-18-20 seems about right. The angle is determined by V2 + 20 OR whatever speed the pilot is after...Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Are you asking about pitch or climb out angle? These are 2 different issues. Also in the replies those 2 things seem to be mixed up.Wolfgang
