Cabin views but no pax!

Featured Replies

Have been experimenting with the demo version of Active Camera and PMDG 737NG cabin views. On the whole quite impressive. (You can of course get a cabin view of sorts without this ap. but no further back than the forward galley area). Now the thing that is most lacking with cabin views is virtual pax - there are none! Makes cabin views a tad unrealistic. So not sure whether I will buy AC - does little for PSS addons - have to have a closer look at what else it can do.Bruce

I think there's a limit to what one should expect. "virtual passengers" are nothing but a hughe waste of precious polygons, frame rate killers.

Do you have any idea what virtual pax would do to frame rates? There is a point where you need to draw the line, and I think virtual pax is certainly above that line.

Point taken on virtual pax and frame rates, I guess what I was really on about was the pros and cons of active camera (without pax the active camera/virtual cabin combo is less appealing) but perhaps this is best pursued in another forum.Bruce

Hi John,I see your point and in a way I agree with you but still it would be nice to maybe not have all seats taken by PAX but at least a couple of them just to make the cabin feel a bit "alive". After all, the sense of realism is what most of us are always striving for in FS and part from having all the systems correctly modelled PAX is also part of this "reality" in an airliner a/c. Speaking about the cabin I hope it in future products and hopefully already in the 747 will be possible to turn off/dim the cabin lights instead of having the cabin all lit on flights during nighttime as it is today.Another thing I personally think would be nice and increase the sense of realism would be to have a realistic picture of a FO sitting next to you in the cockpit. Maybe it would be tricky to have one in the virtual cockpit but easier in the 2D cockpit? Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I see it that would just be a part of the picture you see when looking to the right in the 2D cockpit. Think I've seen it somewhere in another product but can't recall where at the moment.Just my thoughts on the subject...All the best,
