November 8, 200421 yr Fellow pilots, I am considering purchasing Active sky to enhance my flying experience, just wondered what your general opinion of the package is ie user friendly (coz I'm a bit of a novice) realism, impact on frame rates etc.Your pearls of wisdom would be appreciated.CheersBen Ben Hall EGSSProud supporter of Intercity Airways, visit www.ViaIntercity.com
November 8, 200421 yr Hi Ben,user friendly and almost no impact rates (except for the active radar module in as2004, but depends on your system)I suggest Active Sky 2004, that's the fs9 version (if you are using fs9).Absolutely fantastic to have real weather.
November 8, 200421 yr One of the best addons around in my opinion, you'll find nothing but praise for it on this forum I think.Realism is brilliant, to use MS terminology "as real as it gets" perfect cloud formations everywhere you look.No change on the frame rates, apart from AS generates clouds and clouds themselves affect frame rates but AS itself won't directly do anything to frame rates. As for impact well it completely changes the way FS looks for the better! Really top class addon.Hope that helps!
November 8, 200421 yr I was using the pumped up 2k2 version, but gave up due to ctd's. I would like to know if there are significant changes in the new version to make it more stable?
November 9, 200421 yr I don't know if CTDs were addressed in the updated version but I used to have to run in windowed mode to prevent crashes, now it runs normal for me so maybe its worth you trying again. Using version 2004.5
November 9, 200421 yr Great addon, well worth the money asked for which at the time of purchase I thought was pretty expensive for a weather addon (euro to Usd). It was great before the update and 2004.5 only made it better.Andrew
