December 6, 200421 yr I am encountering errors when typing in airport of origin and the airport where i am going to. For example, It will say things like "err FIX line 56" or "err NAVAID line 20"After this the airport will be register, and the path will appear on the screen and all, yet no SID/STAR procedures appear in DEP/ARR.This makes it virtually impossible to conduct a proper approach using autopilot.I have already deleted then re-installed my SIDSTARS in the PMDG/SIDSTARS folder, in which i installed the latest Navdata.at AIO, and the latest PMDG SIDSTARS. I also have the latest AIRAC Cycle, and i checked and the AIRAC Cycle and the SIDSTARS are 0412 (The latest one)I have already reviewed the post made on SID/STARS by Terry, and i found it did not solve my problems.Help!:(__Alex
December 6, 200421 yr There must be an issue with the procedure itself as this is a telltale sign. You can ask if someone has a modified or personaly made procedure for that ICAO...Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. December 6, 200421 yr OK Alex,First let's assume that the AIRAC 0412 you downloaded from NavData is the PMDG/PIC one and that it is located in YOUR DRIVE:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9FMCWPNavData. In that NasvData folder you should see 6 files:airports 353KB DAT File 11/18/2004fmc ident 1KB TXT File 11/22/2004wpNavAID 809KB TXT File 11/18/2004wpNavAPT 2,420KB TXT File 11/18/2004wpNavFIX 9,326KB TXT File 11/22/2004wpNavRTE 2,379KB TXT File 11/18/2004Then in YOUR DRIVE:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PMDGSIDSTARS you should have extracted the zip file from either Terry's site or PMDG's site, and installed the all-in-one SIDSTAR package from NavData IN THAT ORDER. As a result you should have approximately 2,073 TXT files in that folder. If you got everything as described above you should only get the kind of message you mentioned in your first post in the event that one or more procedure are outdated. If you get messages for all airports you try to open in the FMC then most probably you have a corrupted AIRAC. So please check the KB size of each file I listed above against your installed files. If they differ then download again the cycle from NavData. In the alternative that you get similar messages only for a few airports it would indicate that your procedures are outdated then I suggest you post here the TXT files of a couple of them and we shall analyze them for wrong entries. You should remember that Terry's procedures are always in "synch" with the latest AIRAC cycle and that a number of procedures available on NavData's site have not been regularly updated by their respective authors.Hope this help.Michael
December 6, 200421 yr I have tried all the measures you stated, and none of them seem to work for me.My AIRAC File is fine, and i have reinstalled it anyway. I have also tried reinstalling the PMDG 737 aswell.Any other suggestions?__Alex
December 7, 200421 yr Alex,Send me the airport file you use most and having a problem with and I will see if I can figure out the errors. I just uploaded an updated file for KBOS that includes the LOGAN2 SID to the PMDG website and it seems to work great. Can't make any promises but will give it my best [email protected]
December 7, 200421 yr Hello AlexThe original error messages you posted would indicate sidstar procedure errors but I wouldnt expect these to appear at every airport you enter. If you have the latest airac installed from the Navdata site and the latest corresponding sidstar package from Terry's site as suggested this shouldnt happen.Which version of the PMDG do you have installed? Looking back through the forum I see you have been having similar type problems back in September, you were also having problems updating from v1.2 to v1.3, I think I read.It could be your PMDG installation is corrupted in some way? Simon
December 7, 200421 yr Yes i have had problems updating from 1.2 to 1.3 Simon, hence i disbanded it in exasperation and decided to just use 1.2 (The installation is not corrupted however as it has been re-installed)BTW I already contacted PMDG Support about my updating problem and they were unable to offer much help.Could 1.2 have SIDSTAR compatibility issues? I am unsure. And yes, i do get error messages with EVERY airport i put in the FMC, however, they are different (e.g. err at FIX line 30 or err at NAVAID line 94)__Alex
December 7, 200421 yr Hey something wierd just happened.I just tried the only 2 SIDSTARS that shipped with the PMDG Model, LSGG and some other one, and they worked perfectly fine!Where could i obtain more SIDSTARS of the same type?_Alex
December 7, 200421 yr >Hey something wierd just happened.I'll say.>I just tried the only 2 SIDSTARS that shipped with the PMDG>Model, LSGG and some other one, and they worked perfectly>fine!Something is wrong here. There should be a lot more than 2 SIDs/STARs that shipped with the 737NG. Are you sure all the files are in the correct folders and are verified as cycle 0412 by looking at the file headers?>Where could i obtain more SIDSTARS of the same type? There is only one type. Who produces them may varry though. How about looking at the header of some of the airport files you got that had errors and seeing if they all say cycle 0412. It may be possible you did not get the correct cycles, however, that would not explain why all the airports you try report errors. Weird. This sort of thing usually happens because the wrong cycles are being used and the user does not know it. RegardsTerry
December 7, 200421 yr Well the SIDSTARS that shipped with PMDG were fairly old, which is why i am confused as to why they are the only ones that work with an 0412 Cycle AIRAC file, as opposed to 0412 SIDSTARS (I checked all their headers and they are up to date)___Alex
December 7, 200421 yr >Well the SIDSTARS that shipped with PMDG were fairly old,>which is why i am confused as to why they are the only ones>that work with an 0412 Cycle AIRAC file, as opposed to 0412>SIDSTARS (I checked all their headers and they are up to>date)>>___>>AlexA few times the airarc install program created duplicate folders.Instead of C:...fs9FMCWPNAVDATA, which contains the airac files.I ended up with C:...FMCWPNAVDATAFMCWPNAVDATA.So when I launched the FMC it found the first set of FMCWPNAVDATA files (which were the old ones) and listed the old airac on the Navdata page, or wherever it list it.After renaming the first set of FMCWPNAVDATA folders to FMCWP.old it skipped it and found the second FMCWPNAVDATA set of folders and loaded the new airac files into the FMC which listed the correct cycle. As far as I know I installed the airac's using the same procedure for every cycle. I use Winzip and unzip to a folder I created to download to, for the cycle and nothing else. After I see the installer icon I click on it and make sure it's pointed to fs9.I use the same procedure every time, with cycle 0412 it installed "without" creating duplicate folders???Beats the heck out of me!In any event, someting to check out.Never had any probs with SidStars, I just unzip em to fs9PMDGSIDSTARS, works fine for me every time.If you have SID's STARS you created yourself, just keep em in a folder called MYSIDSTARS. After you update you can slide em into the SIDSTAR folder.Good Luck
December 7, 200421 yr Thank you for the suggestion however i have already considered this option :(It doesn't seem to be the issue at hand.+ When i looked at the top of the only 2 SIDSTARS that work for me, no cycle number was listed. It was just://************************************// SIDs and STARs for LSGG Cointrin Switzerland// PMDG May 2001//************************************and//*******************************************// SIDs and STARs for LSZH Kloten Switzerland// PMDG June 2003//*******************************************All the other files (the up to date ones) (which do not work) start with things like:// YPPH - PERTH INTL// Derived from DAFIF cycle 0412.// Valid 25 NOV 2004 to 22 DEC 2004.//// Copyright 11/19/2004 by Terry Yingling// http://home.sw.rr.com/filesherenow/index.html// These procedures must not be sold or included// with a product for sale unless authorized by// me in writing before the fact.//// Read the '_Read This First.txt' file for// copyright restrictions. With cycle numbers listed. Beats me.__ Alex
December 7, 200421 yr I have decided to include a copy of a SIDSTAR that works and one that doesnt so maybe you can help :(Attatchment 1 WorksAttatchment 2 doesn't work.__Alex
December 7, 200421 yr Hello AlexI'm sorry to hear you are still having problems.I seem to remember the very earliest version just shipped with 2 swiss airports? What is known is that the latest airac and the latest corresponding sidstar files work without problems.I still maintain that given the fact you can't update from V1.2 to V1.3, you have a problem with your installation or installer. There are a few commands that have been added to the sidstar syntax along the way, but I understood that they were always in the fmc but not activated and therefore should be compatible with V1.2?Personally I wouldnt be happy running a version of a programme that wasnt up to date, I would contact support again with your purchase details and see if they can help get you up to the latest version.Simon
