Sam,Once again thanks for the exellent lectures on this matter. Because of your insight knowledge about your job, I now leave all my FDs off during my manuall landings on this magnificent 744(I just saw a picture of a real B744 doing exactly that). One day I will practice the "AUTO-LAND" and check out what it has to offer. (Note: all flights done 100% from VC). This leaves me to yet my other question and I will appreciate your givens as well. What is the gain/difference of using "CLB" power at cruise as oppose to "CRZ" power setting? The link below shows BA using "CLB" power of 1.58 EPR set at 1.75 at FL390. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/100663/L/ Thnx Gus

I might argue that what he is contributing here is not to my benefit alone. You saw the first picture and right away jumped to conclusion that the picture does not warrant the point I was to make (Sam saw it differently)The second picture is as "clear" as once again any "learning eyes" can see and yet again you don't see the benefit. By the way, I do own a VHS copy of Captain Don Grange(sp) flight from EGLL-VHHX(KAI TAK)and I should say there is no DVD out there on 744 that has such detail as this one and I have had it for the past 7 years. Once again thanks for your advice, but lets wait for Sam. ThnxGus

Gus, Checkin' out these pictures is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. . . . bringing up questions. Good ones. You just keep questioning anything that doesn
