DXTBmp and 737NG

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I wanted to know if I can use the dxtbmp program, and take the PMDG texture folder, as well as each aircraft livery texture folder including the VC textures within them , and convert all to DXT3 / No Mips and have everything still intact? I feel this will improve my fps and smooth out the performance on my machine also. I also think the only textures I do covert are the ones that I can see in thumbnail view? Thanks in advance.Best regards, Jeff

You are correct Jeff, you can definitely compress those .bmp files to dxt3 and doing so, gain in fps. You must be aware that it might cause a display quality loss tough, especially on smal details. And, using DXTBmp rather than Imagetool is definitely a very good choice.Best,

Thanks for your reply. I am going to give it a go tomorrow. My only concern is, I did this a while ago on some other aircraft, and it messed up the VC. Everything was out of place so to speak. Maybe it was something else that caused it? Anyway, if you see this before tomorrow, please let me know if I'm looking too far into this. Thanks again for your help. Best regards, Jeff
