747- FMC: How to use the winds page???

Featured Replies

I put the winds forecast into the FMC as depicted: LEGS/RTE DATA/-DDD/SSS-/R5 upload and got the message "INVALID ENTRY"... What is wrong?? Any help, please?

Kind regards

Hans-Joachim Wennemeier

this is how i input wind components on LEGS page:360/15that's it. i don't know what you mean when you say you enter:"-DDD/SSS-". why do you have "-" on there?maxim(us)

It works but you have to make sure that the waypoints you enter winds on are at CRZ level. No wind entries are allowed at waypoints in the CLB or DES stages of the flight as per the real deal.DIR/SPD with or without leading zeros are valid input formatsHope it helps,

Hello Maxim and Mats, thank you for your answers. I tried it with a position during climb. Now I learned, that that was the reason for not being successful...Thanks!

Try using FSBuild, the navlog gives you average en-route winds. It simplifies things a lot!Dave HartZJX C1SWA3326UPS270>Anybody like to comment on how this helps the FUNCTION of>their flight sim? Please, explain further. I use FSBuild 2.0, I just haven't explored this area. I do let it build my PMDG flight plan, so is this just another check box? I don't have FSBuild and Active Sky on the same computer...how will this work? Thanks>Try using FSBuild, the navlog gives you average en-route>winds. Hi Wilson, first, you have to use the same weather that you will have during your flight. Without any information about the aloft winds at different flight levels or at least at cruising hight nothing can be done. If you can use ActiveSky generating the weather for your flight you can take your flight route and AS will prepare a table with all aloft wind informations you need or one value for your cruising hight. This one you can put at your vnav-forecast page or the others according to the waypoints you can take them all or, if there are too many, choose some waypoints (e.g. for each hour) and put them at the winds page.Hope, this is understandable...

Kind regards
