747-400 Reading Material

Recommended Posts

Just wondering does anyone know any good reading material or books about the 747-400(apart from the PMDG Manual :) ) Im looking for a history of the aircraft and about how it was made and maybe some technical details or diagrams. Im hoping to understand more about systems..im no longer satisfied by clicking buttons in the overhead panel and not knowing what it does or what systems are involved and how they work. I guess a lot of the information im looking for is not available to the average Joe Soap just wondering if anyone could help :)Cheers

Try this for one:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/093628305...glance&n=283155It won't give much on history, but it will take you though most aspects of flying the Queen in a very user-friendly way. Its intended for real pilots preparing for a Level-D checkride. Its also spiral bound, which makes it really handy to use while flying.Andrew

Try www.flightstore.co.uk for aviation books in general. They list the Airlife's Airliners: 03 BOEING 747-400 but it is out of print at the moment, so snap it up if you see it anywhere. Its a UK company (good for posting to Ireland) that serves both real world and Sim pilots. As an added note I would heartely recommend the ITVV DVD's on the Virgin and Cathy Pacific 747-400 flights. (Virgin one is particularly good). They and others are avaiable from Flightstore.
