May 1, 200620 yr Hi all,I have noticed that with the PMDG 737/747, I can enter a course on the autopilot (eg hdg 050) and it will always be out by 3 degrees (eg hdg 047). Has anyone else encountered this problem and if they have, did they find a way to fix it? Any help with this would be most appreciated.Kind regards,Matthew Matthew Bellette
May 1, 200620 yr ya this is to counter drift...you see that you are tracking for example 047 to maintain a heading of 050....
May 2, 200620 yr Matthew,If the aircraft is being flown in LNAV mode then the aircraft's heading (HDG) will be adjusted to allow for any crosswind so the the aircraft TRACKS over the ground in accordance with the flight plan track. In HDG mode the aircraft will TRACK over the ground in accordance with any drift left or right as determined by the wind velocity the aircraft is experiencing at that time. Basically the only time in this case when the TRACK and HDG will be he same is in 'no wind' or direct head/tailwind conditions. As an aside, in the real world ATC's are made aware of this issue in their training and issue HDG instructions that take into account wind effect.Regards,Neil http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgNeil Bradley
