changing fs9.cfg affect PMDG744?

Featured Replies

Hi,I changed a few terrain settings in my fs9.cfg file. After doing that I loaded up the PMDG744 and programmed the FMC but it would not accept any crz altitude. No matter what number I inserted, the FMC gave me the message, "unable crz alt". I put 40tons of fuel in her for the short leg Adelaide to Melbourne, did everthing as per usual, but couldn't insert crz altidude in the perf page. As a result I had to make the flight without vnav. Can fs9.cfg affect PMDG aircraft at all if altered? CheersTristan

Tristan-No...editing the FS9.cfg should have no impact.I suspect that the FMC was complaining because you were asking for an altitude that was too high given the short distance of the flight. The airplane is pretty savvy- and it knows how long it will take to climb/descend- so it won't be pleasant about letting you ask it to do something that it feels cannot be done.Try a slightly longer flight and you'll see it's working... Then you may need to experiment a bit for that short flight.

I'm not sure what the real world SOPs are, but FSBuild calculates FL240 for that route... what were you trying to fly at?

Hi Ryan,I can't quite remember the specific figures, I think tried everything from FL150 to FL400, but I'll give it another go and keep you posted.CheersTristan
